Default Just to clarify..

INS is no longer INS! My postings always refer to the CIS, as INS changed their name a few years ago. It was originally CIS, then BCIS, and is now USCIS!

Its worth knowing this when letters start arriving from USCIS and people wonder who they are!

Thank you for that clarification (a little late for me) because I just had someone picked up today by men in jackets that had USCIS and I was like hell, no, we're waiting for INS. They looked at me and laughed. The one man said we are INS and this guy is going home to Colombia.
Nice if they let me know ahead of time they changed their name!!

It will probably be different again next week!

I always thought USCIS had the US Marshals do their pick-ups.. seems that must have changed too!

They normally do, but my guy was prosecuted under the rockefeller law here in NY and was being freed due to some glitches. He has dodged INS many times and they sent these very big gentlemen to pick him up so he could be deported.

I have a question. If you are a citizen and have kids who are also citizen, can your hubby still get deported after commiting a felony? I would appreciate any advise. Thanks.

If your hubby is not a citizen, then yes he can. A greencard is just authorization to live and work in the US, it doesnt give guarantees, and can be revoked at any time. When he adjusted his status the forms that he signed acknowlegded that. If he subsequently commits a felony, he is likely to be deported.
