Hello to everybody,
Elijah Page who is on death row in South Dakota has dropped his appeals and got an execution date for the end of August.
Elijah is a friend of my penpal in SD SP and he wrote me today that Elijah would appreciate every kind of correspondence that helps him fill his time until his date comes.
So, please, take your pens and drop him some lines...

I wrote Elijah a letter and it will go in the mail in the morning. I am in Texas so it will take a few days to get to him I'm sure. I hope he writes back.. and I hope my letter(s) help.

They say abuse is not an excuse but please remeber what was done to him.
During his trial, Page's long history of child abuse was revealed. According to testimony and court records, Page's mother allowed her young son to be molested in exchange for drugs, and his stepfather once used him as a human shield during a drug-related gun fight. When his mother lost custody of her children, Page was shuffled to as many as twelve foster homes and became a frequent runaway. As he sentencing Page to death, Circuit Judge Warren Johnson noted, "Most people treat their pets better than your parents treated their kids."

WHAT!!!!!!!! That is insane.. The judge said that then still allowed this young man to be sentenced to DEATH? That is appauling and horrible..

Very saddened by all of this. He may not be into religion however, I believe in God and my prayers go out for him.

I got a letter from Elijah on Saturday. I too believe in God and am praying for him. I just respect his wishes regarding religion/God and hope some of my faith rubs off on him without talking about it. :-)
