Question ERS release date has passed - when does he get out?

My son's latest tentative release date is 2/1/2007 and my understanding is that his ERS eligibility date is now 7/4/2006. (Today is 7/11/2006!)

He got a case manager to submit his paperwork back in April, 2006.

I have called several times over the past month or so checking to see if he is approved yet. He is currently at CMCF -- I've called there and the MDOC records dept.

They keep telling me that his name has not shown up on an audit report yet which I don't understand since it has now past his eligibility date. I know they said that this is just an eligible date not a release date. He has completed the necessary court-ordered requirements, I think.

On the last day of his anger management course (in June of 2005) he was transferred from Parchman to Issaquena. He said the teacher had the certificates printed up the week before but, of course, could not hand them out until the last day of the course.

Other inmates that he knows of have been released on or soon after their ERS date.

Does anyone know specifics about ERS release?

I hate to keep calling them - I don't want them to get upset and put his release off because I'm bugging them.

Thanks for any information.

The most that you can do is keep calling them.

I would contact the commisioner or warden at his facility.

I would call Jane Mapp if you wanted an intelligent response in a timely manner... she is the attorney in the records division... (601) 359-5770... but don't give that number out to anybody! <wink>!

They kept my stepson right at a month after his ERS date passed. I was *not* calling and bugging them about him, but I think I remember that his mother called and said something about an audit report.

One person you might call is his local probation officer. In Jeremy's case, he had to call me and verify his address before he was released. He might not be much help to you, but it would at least let him know that you're anxious to have your son home. (not everyone is)
