Default Max. security visitations??? Minnesota

My boyfriend Anthony is about to be transfered to Oak Park Heights in Minnesota from Rush City. Oak Park is a maxium security and Rush is not, so basically I was just wondering if there is going to be any real big changes in the rules for visitation. Right now, I can sit next to him and hug him and all that good stuff, except for kiss. What is it like for visiting in max. security?

I visit in max security in Missouri and we can sit side by side - hold hands. No kissing or hugging allowed - no arms around each other... but I think that this will be different in each prison and state - hopefully someone from Minnesota will be along with an answer!

Hope it does not change too much for you!

Hi,

Since you had some specific visitation questions related to Minnesota, I have moved this thread to the Minnesota forum on PTO so your post will have the opportunity to get more specific responses and the best answers to your questions, and won’t get lost in the busy Visitation forum... I’ve found they often get more and better answers there, AND the information will be here to help others in the future, too.

You also might want to thumb thru the Minnesota forum to see if some of your questions have already been answered in the past... the direct link to the forum is here:

http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/for...s=&forumid=150

Hope you find the info you're looking for and good luck!

Lys

I have heard that the visiting at OPH is very similar to visiting at Rush City, but I do not know first hand. One question.... How do you get to sit next to your man at Rush City?? My husband has been there for nearly two years, and I have never seen anyone able to sit Next to eachother.

I think tebkrg was saying this about Missouri at a max there.

Default Rush City visiting

Visiting at Rush City is as such...
You sit across from eachother with about 5-6 feet of space in between you....you have to be sure to be sitting all the way back on your chair, so as not to get too close too. (No table between you....just space) You get one BRIEF hug and kiss on the cheek when you arrive and when you leave. If you get your picture taken, you both have to have your hands visible in the picture and you cannot be touching at all. No bathroom breaks, no vending machines etc etc... On Thursdays and Fridays you can visit for up to three hours, and on Saturdays and Sundays, it is only for an hour. I think that's about it...And I'm assuming that OPH will be similiar to that.

My husband and I hold hands right when I come into the RC visiting room, then we wait our turn to get assigned a seat, and we always touch across the way. We have never gotten into trouble, the guards know us and WE know enough, and are respectful enough to the nice guards, to not push it. I HATE getting my picture taken and it's even worse when we can't touch...that's the dumbest part about visiting at RC. Oak Park is a higher security facility--I would imagine that it will be a little more strict. Best of luck!!

I must say I'm really surprised at the visiting rules for Minnesota. I wonder what the kissing rules are at the other states? I have never heard anyone from another state say they can't kiss at the beginning and end of a visit.

We have also suffered through the camera visits. My family kept asking "why do you bother?" "Why not just stay at home and take his phone calls....save yourself the trip??" They dont understand, and even at times I had to remind myself that it WAS/IS better than NOTHING!!! Good luck to you!!! February isnt too far away if ya think about it!!!!
