Hi, my husband will be moving from Delaware to Maryland in a few weeks. He was sentenced to 8 years, none suspended. I heard that with maryland, you only serve 1/4 of your sentence? I sure hope so!! We also heard they go to Baltimore City to be processed and then where???

He will go to Maryland Reception Diagnostic Classification Center for about 30 days. After he has been classified, and assigned an inmate #, they will send him to whereever they decide. IF you are in DE..the closest ones to you are probably ECI.

Time served on a sentence varies..depending on the offense, previous records and incarcerations. My personal experiences have been that the figure can vary from 1/3 to 1/2 on parolable offenses. If the sentence carries no parole, then the figure increases to about 2/3 of the sentence.
Figure on for every 3 years actually served, you get one year off..If the inmate works, then there is more good time credit for that. Hope this helps
