Exclamation Promoting other "Communities" on PTO

I have been noticing over the last 6 months the rise in "turn-key" online prisoner support communities. (MSN, Yahoo Groups, Delphi, etc)

Simply put, please do not promote other Online Communities, businesses, or websites on PTO.

One of the reasons I created PTO was to bring as many people together in one place to effect change and give them as large a base of support as possible. It may just be my opinion, but when you have 10 other communities out there trying to mimic PTO, the information, support and “power” that the group can focus on something gets diluted and harder to find. While I can’t control these popping up, I don’t intend to help promote them when we already are fulfilling this need.

I would also like to add, PTO is NOT a turn-key community that is run for free by a company that derives its profits by advertising on most (if not all) of the pages that are shown, in all of its hosted communities. (I could have used one of these “free” hosted Turn-Key groups but they are IMO, limited, cheap, bothersome with advertising, and most importantly, apt to disappear or require charges whenever the company that owns them sees fit – Delphi forums is a good example of now charging for features – where PTO is OURS and the resources and support will live on as long as there is a need, not dictated by a company/business.) I and others here at PTO have spent much time, energy and money to build a community that addresses as many issues in Prisoner (and family/friend) Support as possible, and we expand when necessary.

So, what exactly do I mean by “Do Not Promote Other Online Communities” ??

I mean, don’t:
*Put their LINK or information in your Signature File that appears below your posts
*Post their information in the threads soliciting people to go there.
*Private Message Members soliciting them. (This will get you banned)
*E-mail Members soliciting them. (This will get you banned)

Thanks,
David
