Default Need Some Advice

My brother is going through his second public pretender. He is currently in the Kent Regional Justice Center awaiting his sentencing. My brother is totally being railroaded and his attorney is the one doing this to him. We are trying to find someone (a criminal defense attorney) that would be able to take this case for as little as possible. Has anyone heard about John Henry Browne? He says he will take his case but keeps changing the price on us. Is there anyone you can refer? Please help.. My brother is trying to file motions regarding the investigation that they did (or should I say didn't do) and the public pretender has not come to see him in 3 weeks. He asked her for copies of everything and she has yet to bring one piece of paper to him.. Anyone have any ideas?

Default An Update

Since this last post, my brother went to his sentencing hearing and the judge granted him a new attorney and he was able to file his motions. The judge has stated that he was going to give my brother another month to get things in order. We are still in the game so to speak. We also contacted Internal Affairs (investigative unit) so they would investigate the detective that handled this case, and found out that they had video of my brother of when he was arrested, and now no one wants to speak to us. So now we have contacted the FBI. I still for the life of me, don't understand why they are so willing to throw a life away without getting to the truth. My brother was an upstanding citizen before all of this, and no one cares...Just thought I would give an update...

They just want to "solve" cases. It doesn't always matter whether the wrong person is incarcerated, so long as they keep the reputation of solving crime and putting criminals away efficiently. Good luck to your brother and I'm glad some positive progress is being made.

Default Thank you

We just keep trying, and let me just say I have learned alot about the legal system since November, and I will not give up without a fight..

On the day of my brother's sentencing, my brother had to literally stand up and defy the judge before he allowed him to fire his attorney and file the motions. I don't know what would have happened if he wouldn't have done that..

Going through the trial and sentencing process is very frustrrating, I know. It takes forever and nothing seems to go the way you hope it will.

Default Frustration....

I think the most frustrating part about this whole process, is the attorneys...My brother has been through the ringer with them, they refuse to talk to the family and yet they don't take his phone calls or visit him... So they know they hold the power of his life in their hands and yet they DON'T CARE... I would like to ask them just one question.. Why did they get into that field then? I never thought I was gonna have to put myself through law school in order to know what our rights were. It is a BIG guessing game.. It really is..
