Murray Unit – General Information

Established in 1995, the Murray Unit houses a maximum of 1,313 females. The unit holds G1-G5, and administrative segregation. Murray Unit is co-located with Gatesville, Hilltop, Mountain View, and Woodman.

Murray Unit – Visiting Information (hours, rules, & what to wear)

Visitation is from 8:00am to 5:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays. You can bring $20 in quarters in a clear bag and should dress conservatively with nothing too revealing.

Gatesville is the home of numerous prisons, mostly female units. The Hughes Unit is the male unit located there. Female units include: Hilltop, Mountain View, Murray, Woodman State Jail, and Gatesville Unit. Gatesville is the point of release for females in TDCJ.
