Default Help on discharge/parole

If a persons sentence discharge date is the same as the mandatory release date, why would they still be on parole when they get out??

Default Parole

It is because of Colorado's Mandatory Parole Law (one they are supposedly trying to repeal). Every charges carries a mandatory "tail". If this system will let me post, I will go into more detail.

Apparently, it is going to let me post a reply, so here is the detail I promised. With each conviction (F3, F4, etc... there is, at this time, a mandatory period of parole following discharge of sentence {even after their MRD}). Example, on a 10 year sentence (even if they do day for day), they have a 5 year tail, so that in essence, their sentence is 15 years. It's screwed up and why we have such a high rate of recidivism. Inmates cannot even chose to remain in prison until their MRD and walk out a free person. They still always have the "tail" to haunt them and screw up their lives for years more to come. What a system of $$$$$$$$$ insurance?!?!? It's all about the money.

Thanks for all your info. I'm really stressed because we have a nice home for him to come to that is alcohol and drug free, and they more than likely are not going to let him, which will lead him to either coming here anyway (most likely),which will get him into more trouble, or living somewhere where he is in constant temptation, and we have tried that before, and he really went off the deep end which is why he is back there. (revocation from the 2005 sentence)
