Question Unemployment??

Is this true?? Once our loved ones are released they can apply for unemployment and receive $57 a week for each week they were locked up? Doesn't sound right, but I have heard crazier things!

Sorry, but no it is not true. In fact, most any social welfare system will turn their back on him. They will help women who refuse to work or stop having babies they don't want, won't treat well, who use and abuse the system, etc. over helping someone freshly released from an institution.

However, most state DOC's have a mandatory savings program for their inmates and that might be a good thing for your loved one. And, your local probation and parole office can help your loved one transition back into society by referring him/her to a variety of non-profit agencies that will assist the person in getting back on his/her feet.

No, your man cannot receive unemployment for each week he was incarcerated. Matter of fact, depending on the charge, he may not be able to draw food stamps or anything like that. Good luck.

Well what alot of people do not know is that alot of that has changed and their is assitance out their for him and it has recently started with The commissioner J. Donahue who has been working with social service agencies to ease newly released inmates into society and that does mean by helping with finances housing and many other things just to cut down on the recedivism rate here in Indiana. This is something I did a research paper on with interveiws and I am still following these programs to do a future paper on and to see how it has or has not helped the recedivisim rate.

Default Employment/assistance

Mrs.Pooh, how do people go about finding those programs. With your research maybe you found a few pointers to pass on? I know there is some resistance to Donahue since he was appointed by Mitch, but I have been watching the state web site and I see a lot of things he seems to be working on.
