Wink Phones: We need your help

Fair Rates for ME, a network of families working to lower the phone rates, has two announcements:
  1. We have launched a new website: www.fairratesforme.9f.com
  2. We are beginning our letter writing campaign. We are trying to get 100 letters to be mailed to Maine's Public Advocate. He has said he will not help families and friends of prisoners to get the phone rates lowered. See the "Letter Writing Campaign" page on our website.

We really do need your help. If no one speaks up, nothing changes.

Default Great Idea!!

This is great news! I must confess that I haven't been active in the Maine Forum of PTO since my man's in the southwest, but if you've been around PTO you've probably read my posts before.

What do you guys think about organizing a PTO get-together here in Maine to work on this in greater detail? ...I think it would be a great way to connect, organize, and form our ranks. ....

BTW, has anyone been reading the article series in the Lewiston Sun Journal this past week or two? It's a good series, but doesn't really connect the dots on a larger scale....

I'm a journalist who began researching US prisons four years ago while working on a national news story, and what's happening here in Maine (phone rates, health care, overcrowding, etc.) is happening throughout the nation. The US is in serious trouble, in every state, and if we don't take a stand, we'll be involved in a civil war within the decade....

I have a few contacts in the legal system and in the Muskie School of Public Policy (UMAINE)....

What do you think about getting together during November sometime, before the winter tourism season starts? ....

keep me posted, and in the meantime I'll check out the website....we need to form a caucus here!!

In Solidarity, Northstar
