Cool Could anyone help?

Hello I have a question I'm not sure if anyone could help me with...

I have a relative in Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility in VT

I was wondering if anyone knows if they can recieve care packages there are various sites online and I wanted to know if anyone knew if I could send one...

I called and the woman they keep directing me too isnt in her office I leave messages but get no return calls...

It is my understanding that I can send thing in if they are requested directly from him

However if anyone knows from the sites all over the internet without request

Thank you

Default care packs

Hi CherryB
as far as I know this is THE ONLY canteen services site online that works with VT

mycarepack.com

Hope you can get some items to the people you want to get them to.

Barb
PS I have used this to send things to my husband in two of the VT facilities. a little slow but they do get the items.

Where is he? If he's in VT, I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Try calling the jail where he is. You probably have to order them directly from a distributer if you can. Good luck!

Does anyone know whether or not the inmates have TV in Chittenden regional??
My son was just moved up there.
I know they do at SSCF, but heard they don't have any such distractions in Burlington.

DEPENDS THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE THEM AT SSCF BOUGHT THEM THROUGH CANTEEN. HE IS LUCKY THAT HE HAD A ROOM MATE THAT HAD ONE. THEY USUALLY HAVE ONE IN THE COMMON ROOM IN THE UNIT THOUGH. BUT HE CAN BUY A 13 INCH ONE HIMSELF.

I WORKED AT SSCF FOR A WHILE. THEY WERE ABLE TO GET IN ONE PACKAGE FOR CHRISTMAS LAST YEAR. AS LONG AS THE FOOD WAS PREPACKAGED BY THE COMPANY. SO YOU MAY WANT TO CALL BECAUSE I THINK THAT IT COULD ONLY WEIGH SO MUCH.

My son went to Chittenden last week. He was allowed what they call an "emergency" package that I was able to bring to the facility - two pants, two shirts and two underwear. I did that and have to say that the entire atmosphere at the facility is so much kinder to visitors than at any other and the staff behaves professionally.
I learned that beyond the initial emergency package, the inmates can request a modest amount of additional clothing, and once the request is approved, a package can be sent to that facility.
I ordered some phone time through the mycarepak site and my son told me that they have a store where the guys can get a few treats not available through the canteen service plus pay to have a picture taken - which we were so grateful for since as my son pointed out - it's the only picture of him for the entire year of 2007 and meaningful to us.
I've called there three times already for information, and am cheerfully answered with exact information.
I also went to visit last Sunday, and have to tell you that for all this "new" procedure at eliminating contraband at SSCF, it just seemed so much better and respectfully observed at Chittenden - rather than a flock of tables scattered everywhere, they had two rows of cafeteria style tables set up and visitors sat on one side, inmates on the other. still, plenty of privacy for conversation plus it's nice and warm there (unlike SSCF where I generally freeze!).
Not that it's any "fun" per say - but with all the anxiety my son has to deal with, it's been a blessing to have him there since it's so much smaller and so much quieter; he can actually sleep at night which was very difficult, if not impossible, to do at SSCF. Plus, he gets to wear his street clothes for a while anyway - and it reminds him of the safety and comfort of being at home.
Chittenden has earned my respect.
