Default Hey everyone

I've been on this site quite a few times and I didn't realize there was a w/gf forum. I was starting to think I was the only guy out there going through this. My wife is in Rockville, IN for the next year (6 months with good time), and I (and our 2 girls) are in the Knoxville,TN area. She hasn't been gone long, only a few weeks. Man this is harder than I thought it would be. I'm sure you all can relate. She did everything...payed our bills, groceries, cooked, laundry, I could go on and on.

Anyway, enough boo-hooing. Just wanted to say hello to everyone! I am very glad I found this, we (men) are the vast minority on here! God bless you all.

Hi there dhill, glad you finally found us. We can sure use more guys around here. As you already said we are quite the minority. Welcome aboard. But the ladies on this site are the cream of the crop. They are wonderful.

Oh absolutely! I have found everyone to be very helpful and understanding. It has been a God-send for me, this transition is tough and it's nice to have somewhere to vent, or just hang out.

Welcome aboard dhill.

Sorry to hear that your going through the same thing most of us are. It really sucks. All I can say is that we are all here and will support you in anyway possible. These guys are a great bunch of guys (especially Krummy, metro, and many others.) i pray your wife gets out in 6 months and not a year, I know that when my wife went in it was a total shock for me cause we had only been apart for max 2 weeks prior to this and she was always the strong one. well if ya ever need to just talk feel free to PM me.

Chris

Her Man, you are a riot. Maybe the two of us together could come up with a good cook book. I really know how to fry Chef Boy Ar Dee(LOL)

Tips and Tricks...

Line the pan with foil before you cook in it....stuff doesn't burn down and stick to the pan and you can throw the foil away.

Always have a backup plan...don't ever run out of dry cereal and milk.

Paper plates and gravy don't mix.

Accept all invitations to dinners out

Your cordless drill can substitute for a mixer.

Dropping peanuts in your blender doesn't work for making peanut butter.

Invitations to eat at my house are best countered by an offer to meet at the local cafe

Thanks for the tips. So far we have been keeping the local McDonalds in buisness!

Her Man it sounds like you found my recipe book. One to not use:

Putting milk in the Mr. Coffee to make a pot of hot chocolate is not a good idea. The milk curdles before it hits the pot.

Welcome to PTO dhill!!!! I am glad you found our little corner of PTO. It is a great group and the more the merrier. Please feel free to PM any of us if you ever need someone to talk to.

I'll let you in on one of my domestic adventures. Never put dish soap in the dishwasher unless you want a sudsy mess to clean up.

Welcome dhill!

First of all, allow me to introduce myself. I am your resident forum-crasher.

I know how you're feeling (from a woman's viewpoint however) because when I divorced my first husband, I had never had to do any financial arrangements, bills, setting up accounts, etc...and I was LOST!!!
So I sympathize with your shock at having to do it all yourself all of a sudden.
Granted, the circumstances were different, but the strain, fears and stress may have been similar.

What I'm saying is, hang in there, you're doing great! And you've found the best, strongest, most dedicated group of men on the internet here in the W&G forum. Great support, and even better still at times, much humor.
And...from time to time, the occasional forum-crashin' female or two.

Peace & Blessings,
~GG~

Yeah and don't fill those muffin thingies to the top with cornbread mix.
It sort of makes a mess in the oven.

That's a good one!!! Soap in the dishwasher I've heard of, but not milk in a coffee maker. LOL!

My sis still makes fun of me over that one. It was a mess to clean the curdled milk out of that stupid thing.
