Was just wondering, if anyone really knows, always wondered this.

how much do they take off the money on the books plus the phone money when you send it? like say i send my uncle 10 books for the books, what does he actually get? and also about the phone? I'm in IA, but I'm sure its like that everywhere?

they take out 20% for the money you send to their account. They take 7% out of the phone money. Hope that helps.

I think it depends on their individual situation. They've never taken anything off the money I've sent my husband (he has no restitution or child support, so I'm sure that makes a difference). They do take $ off the phone $ you send in and 7% sounds right.

the personal money is 20% if you owe restuition but they dont take it for child support and the phone its 7 %. if they work than they will also take some for resuition and child support than and what is left over they can use hope that answers any questions

My baby was in Rockwell City and they took a percentage off both commissary and phone account, but not alot; on March 11, his motion for reconsideration was granted, so now he's out and about a week later we got a check in the mail from the IDOC for like $35.00... wonder what that's about? I assumed the $$ they took off each time went towards his restitution/fines, whatever... anyway, i'm just so happy he's out and don't have to send weekly $$ anymore; what a racket!
