Intro--lilhickchick

I am new to Prison Talk and I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jewls and I live in Lebanon. I am a criminal justice student, first year, and I have a friend who is currently serving time in Concord. I joined prison talk not only to help with some CJ homework to also help with questions and concerns that sometimes pop when having a friend in the corrections system.
As I am getting into my classes I have decided that as far as my schooling is going I am leaning more towards prisoners rights and advocacy, more specifically child advocacy. I would like to try and deter minors before they hit the adult doc.
Its so hard to read about cases where inmates are being mistreated and where their rights have been violated. It is extremely discouraging to read about the wrongfully accused, but I guess there will always be holes in every system. It still doesnt make up for their time lost.
If there is any other students out there who would like to talk to please feel free to let me know, I would be interested to hear about your input with schools and how your work is going!
