My husband and I do not have children (biologically) together even though he is dad to may little ones! We would like to go through with the step-parent adoption process but my fear is we wont be able to because of his criminal record.
He does not have any sexually related charges or any crimes against children. He's incarcerated now on a non-violent charge and due to be reased early '09. No drug charges and his 1 violent conviction will be almost 15 years in the past once we go to file the petition for adoption.

I talked to my deadbeat BD down @ the Friend of the Court last week about it and he is more than willing to sign over his rights. He hasnt seen the kids in 6 years (they are 11 & 9), has no intrest in doing so and will be glad to be relieved of the child support thats stacking up on his ass!

Can anyone give me advise on wether or not I have a good chance of having this adoption approved or if I am wasting my time paying all of this money and the judge is just gonna tell me NO!
