Default WA Bill to REGISTER Drug Offenders

Washington State Senate Bill 6561 will require convicted drug offenders to register just like sex offenders do. They would also be posted on public web sites like sex offenders.

Pretty soon all felons will be listed on websites and be required to "register".

The reaction has been a bit more lively on the WA forum. If WA does this just wait and the other states will do the same.

yeah that's just what a recovering drug addict needs, to have past mistakes made public, and to let other addicts know where you are, because isn't one of the steps of recovering is to leave behind even the people that tempt you? i think at times people that are in government have way too much time on their hands to think up some of the dumbest laws that could possible come about

That is absolutely ridiculous... I'm not gonna stand by and let the love of my life be treated even remotely similar to the scum-bags that pray on children. It sounds too close to registering as a sex offender.

Not all sex offenders are child predators! Some are just 2 teenagers!!! But hey, its ok to lump all "those people together" as long as its not the drug offenders!!! This is the attitude that may finally stop the madness...The registry started as only for the worst of the worst but now includes everyone they can get their hands on....and now they need more....so they will go after other classes of people to make sure and keep the public safe...

If its ok to take the rights of some people and the public says so, its only a matter of time before they come and take your rights.

"We are all sinners in the eyes of God".....only a matter of time before only the legistators and politicians are the chosen non-sinners.

Thank you bad*dreams... I was thinking the same thing! I am married to a registered sex offender... He has to register for a statutory rape conviction from 12 years ago... In essence, 2 teenagers...

In any event, I feel the drug offender registry would wind up just like the sex offender register... Someone busted for a joint would be lumped with someone manufacturing meth in their home... Two totally different spectrums lumped together...

Just my humble opinion.
