Default Prairie Correctional ....

My husband just called and said that they have shut down one of the units at PCF and moved them in wherever they could find a bed. He first heard it was because of mold....but like he said, there's mold everywhere so he doubted that was the reason. Then he talked to a CO and was told it's because they're short staffed. Many of the CO's are working double shifts (with a $50.00 incentive bonus) because they are so short staffed?

While i hate to spread rumors, i was just curious if anyone else had heard anything or if their inmate has seen a lot of newcomers to their units.

It was one of the units in B (Bravo).

No word on when the lock down is going to be....if they are as short staffed as it sounds, it probably won't be any time soon. They can still write when on lockdown and they can still have visits. from what i remember they can still make calls but they have to do it during their "out" time. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

From what he told me, transferring all the inmates out of that one unit only saves 1 CO per shift.

Seems to me that CCA needs to start paying their CO's better -- they apparently have a lot of turn over.

I talked with my brother Wednesday and he said they were all transferred while they do 'renovations' on their unit. They were told they would have first priority to return to the unit. Seems it's a lot nicer than the other according to him. Separate showers etc. He was hoping they don't renovate them away.

They can make up any excuse they want to lock them down. Xmas Eve they locked them down throughout Xmas day. One of the new guy's got so depressed he couldn't even call home, he hung himself. Then they locked the unit down to investigate. They play with these guys heads, and hope they will act out so they can put them in the hole or give more time for some trumped up charge. The whole prison system is criminal

It made me so sad to read this! That the basic right of knowing when, where and why something is happening is taken away is just not fair on the inmate of their loved ones on the outside.
To crush a persons spirit so much that they want to end their life is just cruel!
