Default Parole...How long does it take?

My hubby was senteced to 5 years w/ a year review for probation violation. His parole hearing date is March 1, 2009. Ive been hearing he will most likely get paroled since it isnt a violent or sex crime. If he does, how long does it usually take before they actually get OUT? Hubby told me it could be like 2-4 months after he gets paroled before he actually gets out. It sounds kinda crazy, but then again, DOC is crazy....

He's right-about 2-4 months is what I hear. I agree with your comments regarding the DOC We circle the wagons with them once in a while.

Default can be longer

It can be even longer. It all depends on what if any programs or classes they require before the paperwork goes to the Gov...

I know few that have lasted almost a year before their paperwork goes to the Governor's office. Some have even ended up discharging their sentence before the papers get signed. Just don't ever think that as soon as the board approves the parole that the inmate will be out the next week. It will take at least 2 months and sometimes a lot longer.

Man that really sucks! What if he gets released when his year review is up? How long would that take for him to actually get out?

Two things: first, most inmates are not released on their first review by the Pardon & Parole Board. Your significant other may be an exception, but maybe not. I'm not sure who told him that he would get out on his first try.
If he is released onto probation after a judicial review, then that is likely to be much quicker. That kind of release does not rely on the Pardon & Parole Board. It's the district court judge doing his (or her) thing. Beware, though: if the D.A. opposes suspending the rest of the sentence, the judge may not grant modification. Unfortunately, that decision cannot be appealed.

Well one thing I am sure of is that he won't be able to do any kind of programs that will help his JR b/c he's in OK county, and his case manager said he will probably be there until February. Well, his JR is up in May & his parole date is in March. So that doesnt really give him much time. And I read somewhere that most of the time, especially if you have an attorney, JR's are most likely sucessfull. But of course there is now way of knowing anthing until the time comes...ANd I wish it would hurry up!! lol

I think that is so stupid! It's ridiculous how long it takes for him to just sit down & sign some papers. It's like incarcerated ppl mean nothing to him, and he would rather worry about other important things for his people, instead of taking the time to stop & think that incarcerated ppl ARE important to other people, like their families!!! And maybe prisons wouldnt be so overcrowded if he wouldnt take so long signing parole papers!! Hell and thats just more money it costs the state, holding them in there longer than they should!
