So my honey's next birthday will be spent behind bars... Sept. 13th = (
I know I can't send him any real "Gifts", but does anyone have any ideas on how I might be able to make it a little bit more of a happy day for him? I have bought cards that I am planning on having delivered everyday the week prior to his b-day, and I am going over to see him on his birthday. I thought maybe a magazine subscription, but then I thought maybe you guys too would have some past experiance with this and have some great ideas.
Can they receive Playboy at EOCI? I wouldn't think that they could but he said some of the other guys do receive it, and I saw something in a post that sounded like it could be sent. Does anyone have any information on this?
Any ideas at all would be helpful..

Yes, they can receive playboy. I send a card a day for each day of the month...everyone of them are birthday cards. He says it is crazy, but he loves it. I also send him books for his birthday and oh I send a single magazine in to him from Amazon...Playboy House Mom's addition or Playboy's special additions. He really loves that especially if it has someone famous in it. They have them on there for a special price over like the last two years.

I do want to say this...Birthdays can be a bad thing on the inside. One of the guys got pantsed on his birthday out on yard. He was embarassed and very annoyed so bring the attention to him personally but be careful if he wants anyone else to know.

Thank you for ideas. I am hoping to spend most of the day with him on Saturday the 13th so I don't know if he'll have yard or not that day. I think I will go ahead and order the Playboy for him. I think he was just joking when he mentioned it but I think it would be funny to go ahead and get it for him...

but I read about EOCI rules where it's stated that no "Sexually Explicit Material" is allowed?

and that "A book or single issue of a magazine or newspaper, plus such other materials addressed to a specific inmate as flyers, and catalogs, received directly from the publisher." so does that mean I can't send him book(s) directly?

other thing, is it okay if I send scarf or something like that?

You can not send anything to him directly... My understanding you can pay for a subscription to playboy to be sent it has to have his sid# on it with his name in order for him to get it. books must be sent directly from bookstore (you cant send directly)
