We don't do the email thing so I can't comment. Hopefully they will get back on track and get caught up!!!

Good luck.

Don't you mean regular letter/mail, as I thought inmates don't get emails nor send them?

Jimmy.

Jimmy- There is an email program in some of the prisons.
It makes sense that they would get a bit behind with the long weekend. They'll likely catch back up soon.

As of right now, Snake River and Warner Creek are the two in Oregon that have the e-mail system for inmates. There are other threads to this. As for the long weekend, they usually do get a little behind and take a few days to catch up. Hang in there. The way the e-mail system works: We send an e-mail to our prisoner, it is printed off and given to them, the write out a letter to us, it is scanned into the computer and send to us via e-mail. The inmate actually has no contact with the computer. It is much faster than snail mail and a little cheaper for the number of letters you can exchange back and forth.

To set up the e-mail, first off, you need to make sure they are a certain level to be able to qualify. Then, type into your browser: Electronic Message Solutions, Inc. See what you get and follow the instructions. There are other threads here on PTO that go into more detail. If you search out one of those, it will probably have more instructions to it. I really liked the daily e-mails. I hope that your guy qualifies for them, and you enjoy them.

My friend just got moved to minimum at SRCI and wrote to me to say we can do the email thing so I am hoping that works out well. Selfishly it will be easier for me as I can type a lot quicker than I write plus a lot of our smaller post offices in the UK have closed down so it is more of a trek to get there now! Still I would continue to write if that was the only option

Zoe, good news. And, you get to do 30 e-mails a month. He receives them about the same day, depending on what time you send them, except on the weekends. You will be able to share so much faster. The ones you send on the weekends, he will get on Monday. None are delivered or sent on Holidays, either.
