You can have used books sent by a mail-order company, such as Amazon Marketplace. Make sure it's a company and not an individual. You yourself can't send them in.

Default Used Books

I have found a local (Central Oregon) used book store that will ship for me. We have had no problems getting them through. I just make sure the books I pick are in good condition and do not have stickers, marker, etc. in them. There may be stores in your area willing to ship also.

Powells Books is another excellent source for ordering used books online - they're familiar with sending books to prisons. www.powellsbooks.com

Powells is quick too - because they're in state. Sometimes the mailing cost is a little bit higher because Amazon has free shipping if you spend $25 or more.

That is true about the shipping.Powells has free shipping if you spend 50.00 I usually send several books a few times a year just to get the free shipping.

If you are in the Eugene area Smith Family books is a great place to find used books and they too are familiar with sending to prisons.
