Default Medium security prisons in Massachusetts?

My nephew is in the classification process now at MCI Concord. He is serving 4-6 years on a rape conviction and his case is being appealed. He is 27 years old. What is the best bet for him in terms of prisons for safety, programs, etc. I have checked on all of the websites, but want some insider information that you can't find on the sites. Thanks for the input...

Because he was convicted of a sex offense he may to sent to the treatment center or if the crime was violent he may be sent to a Max, either Walpole or Shirley

Just to let you know Walpole is no longer considered a max facility the only max facility is Shirley and the way they do classifaction now is so off the wall my son was classed a 13 he got a point for being under the age of 40 and a point for having a high school diploma and a point for it being his first offense so he was sent to shirley max for being young smart and not a trouble maker this was last year when he was only 26 so to be honest with you there is no telling where your nephew will end up but rest asure it will be either Shirley Max or the Treatment Center in Bridgewater

Default security level changes

there have been loads of articles regarding "double bunking at sbcc", to prepare it as the only supermax in the system; walpole (cedar junction) which used to be a max along with sbcc (souza baranowski/shirley), is to become the central receiving facility for all offenders (used to be concord) and this is where everyone will be classed out and it will be designated as a medium security prison ; concord will just be another medium security but not the one where all offenders get sent to be classed, it will now be walpole. They are in the process of installing the double bunks as sbcc, and this has caused major uproars from the corrections union, as well as inmates who refuse to be locked in 23 hrs a day with a cellmate. Once this is done, sbcc will be the only supermax in the system. The website probably won't be updated to reflect these changes until they are finalized.
