Post Poems from Inside

Here are a few great poems to make a person think. David is in Hutchinson, Kansas. He just wanted to share with everyone.
Let us know what you think of these.
:fb:

"Stay In Touch"
Though I'm not around like I once was so much,
like an abandon lice that suddenly lost it's touch,
some say there's a reason for not staying in touch.
But I've looked and I've searched and couldn't find such.
Some say there is no phone and they think that's cool.
But there are things called stamps, pencils and paper that they can use as tools.
Sometimes I sit and think fatefully to myself,
it's like being a book placed high upon a shelf.
So please change places one day and thin far ahead.
Because one day you scan be that book that so wants to be read.
So when your just sitting around not doing much,
get a stamp, pencil and paper and please stay in touch.
David H

"Forget me Not"
Fall down like rain,
wet tears on my face.
Aprison cell that's supposed to replace a place called home.
Many miles from my people yes it's often hard.
Will they take time to write or even send a card?
Or do they tell themselves, "Damn, I really miss him."
Or forget about me locked away in ;the system.
Somedays I'm Ok.
Somedays it's the blues.
But, nobody knows unless they walk in my shoes.
The need to be loved goes way deeper than self.
More important than any material wealth.
I'm paying my dues for my crime.
So please, forget me not while I'm serving my time.
You take care and write soon.
Much love.
David H

"Prison Life"
It's waitingg on letters when your doing time and your family don't write you or send you a dime.
It's waiting on visits that nevert take place, from friends or lobed ones who forget your face.
It's hearing them lie and say they are trying.
Making you promises, but you know they are lying.
It's making plans with someone whom you thought you knew.
But their plans suddenly change and it didn't include you.
It's hearing them say how much they care,
but in your time of need they are never there.
It's hearing them promise and it goes straight to you head,
but when puch comes to shove they just leave you for dead.
It's feelings and love, honor and pride, pain and emotions and hurting inside.
It's expressing yourself to your loved ones and friends.
But they can't feel your pain because your in the pen.
It's calling and hearing of blocks on the phone.
But you maintain because life goes on.
It's really messed up that your doing time,
but that's life out of sight out of mind and that's prison life.
David H

I too have writen many poems while I was in prison and since I have been out, i have a page on my web site that I place poetry from other prisoners on. Thier families send them to me and I put them on my site. my site is called "poems from the inside" too isnt that a ccoincidence.

I just want you to know that I feel every word in your poetry and thank you for sharing them with us on the out side..
I encourage you to continue and keep a book of your poerty and have them published like I have done since my release and it is very full filling to be published by a poetry publisher!
Keep your head high David, there are people who care about you and what goes on in the prison system. Stay strong my friend!

Those Poems are wonderful!! It makes you stop and think about all those time that we have all said to ourselves I will get around to it later. Well I use to write every single day but often felt like I was just wasting his time and mine also. I just wanted to include him in my everyday life. But it get so very hard because my life in locked away somewhere in the prison system of Oklahoma. thank you so much for reminding me that any part of my day written down on paper is not about what the words are saying but about I thought of you today and I love and miss you!

Default Love

Hello everyone
This is a letter that my husband sent me last week. It made me feel so loved, but also made me cry.

LOVE
Love is two people made from the same peice of life.
I've never loved anyone the way that I love you.
I've never known someone so well and still felt there
was so much left to discover, never been able to say
"I love you " and have it mean something beautifully
diffrent everytime. I've never known someone I could
spend hours with, and still long for more time to share.
I've never felt so close to someone in so many ways,
and even though I know I'll never be able to tell you
with words just how much you mean to me...I hope that
you somehow understand that the love I feel for you
is more beautiful, more meaningful, than words could
ever say. I love you with all my heart and soul Mary.
You are my life, every beat of my heart is for you!
Forever Yours, Mark
1-4-3-7

Mark's birthday was Sunday March 14th. I havent even
been allowed to visit since Jan. 21st because he is still
in the assessment center Lagrange Ky. I love him with
all my heart and I can't wait till we can get on with the rest
of our life and put this living hell behind us.
Loving him 4ever
Mary

I think the poems help me see a reflection of life inside and how much we are on their mind. We give them a reason to want to make it through. Not that they can't make it without us but the difference is in not feeling totally alone and worthless.

[i]At first I didn't think much about inmates feelings but after my very good friend has been in the system i now think differently. We write to each other and he realy appreciates my visits. One day he told me all the other cell mates tell him he's very lucky to have me visit him two days a week because others can't get the same. Some of the guys have no family or friends that do keep in touch. everyone needs some one to keep a smile. I loved your peoms take care.

I want to thank you for those poems. It sure makes a person think about how there loved one feels. Its hard enough on them and us, much less if they never get a letter. My honey will be out next week, and it made me feel like i didnt do enough. I am going to show him these and let him know that i didn't right as much as I should have.
Thanks so much

You Know, I Sit And Wonder Some Nights Why The Hell My Man Thinks So F**ked Up, Now I Know. These Poems Definitely Make You Want To Write Your Love One And Reassure Them That They Aren't Alone. That's Why I'm Bought To Write My Boo To Let Him Know Just How Much I Love Him And That I'm Gonna Be There For The Rest Of Our Lives. Those Poems Where Beutifully Written. Thank You David H. For Giving Us A Glimpse In Ya'll World. Untill Ya'll Reach The "free World", Hold Ya Head Up And Always Remember Ya'll Have The Whole Pto Routing For Ya.

David, the poem "Prison Life" really made me think. I can't understand the pain you were feeling when you wrote this, but my boyfriend can. All his family and friends act like he doesn't exist since he's in prison. Even the ones that were like his brothers since childhood. It's really sad that this happens. I pray that everything is better for you now. Keep your head up!!! You are a person just like we are. Everyone has broken the law in their life at one time or the other, they just didn't get caught! You are serving your time for what you have done! I'm very proud of you! You have talent as well, with writing! I would love to hear some more!!! David.....you are in my prayers!!!! ((((HUGS))))

after being inside i can relate to the one about prison and no one being there for you all you can do is get tougher and go on the blocks on the phones,no money no word your locked up with only your mind and that can be a deadly thing the wondering and asking why can drive you crazy. So if you have someone in side please let them live through you let them know about your daily life what may seem trivial to you is an extra page they get to read. And even if you can't send but 20.00 dollars a month at least they know you are trying. Don't just leave them alone and fighting not only the system but a life they are holding on to so desperately only to find out it was nothing. Okay I've said my piece sorry for the lecture but I read this and it brings back many bad memories. Good luck to you all

Thanks for posting these poems. Sometimes when I write I feel that I am boreing him about nothing because I write a lot of stuff that usually probably wouldn't stimulate the mind with interest, but I write them because it is something that interests me. But after seeing how important just the fact that I write is something, I will keep chatting about everything just so he knows that I still know he is here in our hearts. Thanks David for letting us slip into your minds!!! TNB04

I am a new member so I am a few months late with my comments about the poems. They made me feel the emoions of the writer as well as stirring emotions in me. It helps me see a clearer picture of what my son has been going through.
Good job!

My 21 yr old son mailed this poem to me. Isn't it sweet? He gets out Jan 7th!

To My Mom

I might not show it as much as I should,
But I want you to know I care.
You’ve always been there for me, no matter what,
Even when it wasn’t fair.

I know I don’t write as much as you’d like,
But you’re still in my heart and on my mind.
You’ll always be my number one woman,
You’re my Mom; you’re one of a kind!

I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life.
You did your best to raise me right.
I know I caused you lots of strife
Worrying about me every night.

Coming to prison has been hard on me
And I know you worry about me too
But the part that really makes me feel bad,
Is that the other person being punished is you.

I hope you enjoy this poem,
I wrote it to make you smile.
I know your love is never ending
So for you I’ll try to go the mile!
