Default INS, Federal deportation after release

I know nothing in this area....yet am searching for info.

I know a person who was released on Friday....on the BOP site it shows him as released.

He was to be deported after release because he is not a citizen here...he was borned in Italy.

Is there a stop somewhere after they are released from the facility they were in.....and the actual deportation...or am I even making any sense?

He was suppose to be in contact with me....but so far we have heard nothing. It was on important issues and I am certain he had his own priorities to take care of....I am wondering if he is even free yet.

ANy info on this I would greatly appreciate.

Diane

Diane, I'm new to all this myself, but I would suggest to you to call the facility he was released from I'm not saying they will tell you anything but you can try. If he was to be deported I doubt that he was just let go. Most likely he was taken by INS so yes there is a stop somewhere, (INS has detainment centers everywhere and alot of county jails 'stage' imnates for INS who are being deported )he could be anywhere. I hope you hear from him soon. Feel free to PM me. and I'm sure someone that more about these things will be along.
Peace
Rainbow

When there is a deportation detainer the prisoner is listed as released but he/she is in custody by the US Marshalls. Then transferred to INS custody and released back to their country of origin. That all happens assuming that they don't have a US passport. Peace.

The Federal Institution he was in would not give any information besides he was released. No further comment.....

Good news is...have received a phone call.

He has been help this past week and they tell him it will be about another week before he gets to Italy.

Nicole.....I will ask him some questions....or try teaching him how to use a computer so he can get on here and answer your questions....hope to have him here with us on PTO in the near future.

Thanks for the responses. Always a helping hand around at PTO!

Diane

My ex-husband was sent to the Federal Detention Facility in Oakdale, Louisiana to await deportation after his release from FCI Ashland. I know that he did go through the federal transfer center in OKC first though. My ex was deported to Mexico and they just dropped him off at the nearest checkpoint which was about 800 miles from where he is from. It was up to him to find his way home from there. He was basicaly stuck until I wired him money for a bus ticket.

Default Some Iformation Regarding Deportation

My son is in prison for the third time (drug related(use). First time he was having a hold from INS. INS ask from me to prove that I am an American citizen, and I am by naturalization. He was minor so automatcly he became American citizen. This time he got a hold too. I am hoping that will go ok...

If his crime was an aggravated felony by immigration standards they will likely try and deport him. You may not know about an ICE hold until the very last minute. Since he is resident and it was white collar crime, your best bet would be to get into a criminal immigration attorney to find out what they think - if he will likely be deported and what chances you would have of fighting immigration over the deportation (if that is what is likely to happen). Anymore, immigration seems to try to hold everyone and make people fight for their right to not be deported.
