Default Saw My Son yesterday =)

Hi all,
Thought I'd share a little.
This last week was full of worry - needlessly - but worry I did!
My son was sentenced to 24 months in a FCI about 8 hours away back in Oct. 08. I haven't seen him since then and before that - it was July.
Anyway, prior to the Federal arrest, he was on probation in the county we live in. The county wanted to punish him for violating his probation for the things he did to get arrested by the FBI.... double whammy.

Last week, all of a sudden, he was told to pack his things, we did not know where he was heading.... county? USP? new FCI?? Then boom, on Tuesday, he shows up 4 miles away... here in the county jail.

County court was Friday..... but thanks to a good public defender (yes, I guess they are out there) (surprise) he will serve no extra time for the county stuff.

The bonus... I get to see him with a 5 min. drive!!! Thanks County!!

He looked sooooo good! with big smiles. I started to laugh/cry and he wondered why.. duH! I think we laughed for the 1st 5 minutes.

He did not like being in the county jail -and was looking forward to being back in the FCI, where he said compared to county, the fci has good food, (for a jail), lots of things to do, it's spacious, and allows for more freedom. It is like a small community college. And speaking of college, he said as soon as he gets back to fci, he's gonna take some classes. He looked and spoke more mature than I've ever heard him. As for medical stuff, he said it was similar to going to Kaiser.

He has always tried to protect me, and he reminded me that he put himself in there, not me. and not to worry and feel so upset. I explained to him a little of the "mother bear' thingy in moms for why I feel the way I do... tho, it's kinda hard for him to understand.
The best part, I'm gonna see him on Tuesday =)
Just wanted to share.
Hope all have a great day.

Great news kk. Every once in a blue moon, the system will work out for the best. By this I mean them bringing your boy almost to your doorstep for you to see him! Is it Tuesday yet?!

So glad you got to see your son. And they are not going to charge him with the county stuff. Great news! That worked out good that they moved him and gave you a little time to visit. And so close to you, it makes it so much easier than them being so far away. I would get as many visits in as I could before they transfer him back. The fci my son was in had no classes, no programs where he was at for four years. All of them are so different. It is good that your son is going to take classes. Sounds like he has matured a lot. I'm just so glad that the county is letting it go. I know that has lifted a weight off both of your shoulders. Enjoy your visit Tuesday!!

So wonderful you got to see him after such a long wait and great news no extra time to serve. I think my son is starting to understand a mothers heart (at least I hope so)

Sandy that should be a great visit. One of the moms that has a son at my boys prison, also has a younger son there. She said it is very scenic, and very laid back. Have a great time.

Yeah, what happened, you left us hanging. Come on, some of us don't get to visit and live vicariously through those that can. It's a big deal for us to hear about visits.

As per Wendy's request;
Sorry it took so long,

I did get to see him again last Tues. In fact, I did not have to share the visit and got the whole 30 minutes to myself. But for some reason, this visit was a little bit sad. He was still sweet, and full of smiles, and I did tell him a funny story about a 5th graders "man-boobs" but when I left, I was so sad. Then I get into a 'funk', and all week long I stayed in it - periods don't help.

According to the boy, the Feds/County will ship him out on a Wed, so when he called last Wed, I knew I'd get to see him a 3rd time. =)
So, last night Sun-, Dad, Bro-14 & I went to see him - again we had to share the 30 min. visit - one at a time for 15 mins to sit in a tiny booth and talk on the phone, and because his brother is only 14, he has to go with a parent. So bro-14 went with me and I let him have the 15 mins. although I did get to say Hi and stuff.
But the worst part of the whole visit was that the second we picked up the phone to talk the fire alarm goes off. and I mean LOUD! for the whole time. At first I thought we'd have to leave, but boy-22 said it's been going off all day and to just stay. so we did - with ears plugged and pushed into the ear piece.
Then when it's time for us to change places with Dad, I got mushy and told him I love you blah, blah, blah and boy-22 waved me away, like I was buggin' him- oh well.

There is another chance to visit this coming Tues, but bro -19 and a friend are supposed to go. Then it is the wait and see game if he will be here another week. The court order is he has to be back in the fed's hands by 2/22.

Kk, sorry I am late with the congrat but still very heartfelt. I know how you feel with the county visits. I hated them cause it is only 30 minutes and have to talk through those damn phones that dont work half the time. And that fire alarm, I am suprised you are not here in Dallas. I swear, 50% of the times I was there, those things went off. Everyone is so use to them that no one pays them any attention any more. Hope nothng serious ever does happen because we will all burn up. My daughter is 2.5 hours away but I dont mind too much cause I can hug her and kiss her. It is worth it. But I would still go to the county every night if I got the chance. Hope all works out with your boy. KNow that he is in our prayers.

Diane

Glad you got a visit KK, sorry it was sad the first time. Sometimes they are sad, others are happy. You know, it's hard for our kids to be happy all the time. I feel that mine puts on a front at times for me. He really doesn't let his pain show or how he really feels because he knows it would upset me. And those kinds of visits through glass and on those stupid phones that you can hardly hear out of and sometimes there are no phones and you have to yell through the glass. While everyone else is visiting and yelling right beside you. But you did get to see him some for a little while and he was close to you.
