hello everyone i just joined this site because i had no where else to turn to and so many questions.. it would be wonderful if anyone had any sort of idea or anything that may help me with my curiousity..

My bf was sentenced for 3 years and he went in on 9/26/03 in a normal jail where he would be transferred to the Trenton Assignment Facility upon where he would be judged to find out what prison he will make his time up at. He went to Trenton i believe last Thursday so its been 8 days so far since ive received a call from him. I was so nervous that i called the prison and the operator told me that he would not be able to make phone calls until he received his pin number.. by now i know he received his pin number but still no call.. i spoke to his brother and his brother said that my bf had called him yesterday and had told him to tell me that he is all right, and that he tried to call me but it doesnt work? what does that mean?? did my number not go through? is he not allowed to make calls to people other than his family? or did they not approve my number? but for what reason? Why did his brother get through, but not me? Is there a certain qualification one must fit for an in-mate to call?

please help...

Maybe there is a block on your phone.

I would try calling correctional billing services at 800-844-6591. It is possible that they have a block on your phone. It's somewhere to start!

There could be a block on your phone, or maybe they limited the number of calls he can make. It'll be easier when he gets to prison. Sometimes CRAF screws the phones up.

Hey.. thanks for the feedback guys.. i was also wondering.. at CRAF are they locked in for 23 hours their entire stay? i received a letter a while ago that he is locked in 23 hours and 1 hour to go out.. im wondering since he hasnt called if hes still locked in so he doesnt have time to call? but its been 8 days and his brother recieved a call..

Could be different for everyone. Depends on how they are classified, I would assume. He should be down in State Prison soon though...the calls should be easier. Are you sure you don't have a block on your phone?

thanks guys so much for your support and help.. but i found out the reason why he wasnt and still isnt able to call is because when he first entered CRAP he had to write down a list of numbers but my number couldnt go thru? so he only is able to call his home and i can only communicate with him thru his brother.. does anyone know why this is like that and how to fix this problem?? please help...

Most likely you have some sort of block on your phone and do not know it. If you have anything set up, usually with caller id, that blocks unknown names, unknown numbers, collect calls or anything like that the call will not go through.

I know with the Feds, the inmates have to submit the number to get it on their phone list before they can call.

It's the same in state prisons. The inmates submit a list of phone numbers and then the jail must approve the numbers on the list. Sometimes certain numbers aren't approved and other times they are approved, but there is some sort of block. Check with the jail to see if your number was approved (this might be a little difficult since he is in CRAF right now) and then check with your phone company to see if there's a block that is stopping him from calling. Other than those two scenerios, I cant think of any other reason he wouldn't be able to call.

you might have a "perma block" on your phone, call evercom and tell them to tell u if any 'call attempts" have bene made to your line, it can tell you if he TRYED to call u and the times... even if it didnt ring on ur end

Love4JW, My Fiance is currently at CRAF and I had the same problem you did ... after some serious research I found out that CRAF uses AT&T as their Collect Call provider and well my old roommate had left me an old outstanding bill that I did not know of until now. So, since I have an outstanding bill with AT&T from that time they will not put my Fiance's call thru until I clear that bill up ... so maybe one of the possiblities your man can't get thru is cuz your phone number has an outstanding bill with AT&T? Anything is a possiblity ... well that is mine's currently but thank god I at least can communicate with him via letters until I clear this bill up. I hope this info helps a lil' ... best of luck ...

Yes that is what happened to me, My old roomate ran up a 3000 at&t phone bill that i am still paying off and i am not able to recieve the collecft calls until te bill is paid in full. I have tried everything but they won't budge. Well thank god y0u are at least able to write back and forth. Good luck and Stay Strong

My boyfriend is at CRAF he's been there since last wednesday... i dont have a block on my phone.. he called me from the county several times a day.. ( I have the phone bill to prove iT!) bUT it's been 6 days since his move to CRAF... and i haven't received a call... how long does the pin # take? if they're locked down 23 hours a day, what time do they get to use the phone? I work all day, so if he's out in the morning, i wouldn't get the call... Do they have a choice of when they're out?CRAF has to approve the phone #? Why would they deny a phone #? Any responses are appreciated... Also he's going to Jones Farm... I don't know when, i guess when there's an opening... how soon will I be allowed to go and visit, after he is moved there... Are there rules, in which as his girlfriend, i can't see him? ( i had one of his friends tell me he don't know if i'll be allowed to visit---why wouldn't i be?) Please any responses to my anxieties would be a godsent!!! HELP!!!

Ok, if u read my post from way above I had the same problem - I could not receive calls from my Fiance but my reason was because I had an Unpaid Long Distance Bill w/AT&T that I did not know about until all of this happened. Now, keep in mind the CRAF uses AT&T as there Long Distance provider and if u have an Unpaid Bill of some sort his call will not go thru until the balance is paid off.

Also, as it was mentioned above, it could also be that he may have not rec'd his Pin # (and I think it takes about 2 weeks to get one), then it could be that your Phone # was not approved for one reason or another or that when they went to enter your # it was entered incorrectly as a Typo ...

As for the times they can make calls ... I believe in CRAF it alternates times ... Ex: Mon 5:30 to 6:30, Tues 7:30 to 9pm, Wed. back to 5:30 to 6:30, and so on so on ...

I am sorry I don't know anything about Jones Farm but EGS is really helpful and I am sure she will be on this Thread to help answer your questions on Jones Farm & anything else.
