Default "The grass is always greener..."

So, I was just wondering... do any of you ever feel like he's caught a big ol' case of "the grass is greener..." followed by regret?

Here's an example: my husband's been at the same place for his entire incarceration, it wasn't a bad facility and he even called it "Camp Cupcake". There was no cert team and he rarely talked about altercations, maybe 3 times in 3 years... He had a job detail he loved and he liked the COs he was around... Well, about 6 or 7 months ago, he starts talking about wanting to go to another camp... Well, he got transferred... at our first visit he was sooo excited, "this is a real camp, I've already seen some fighting and the cert team in action, they do real work here, etc..." The look on my face must've said it all because he then says, "I was so sick of it there, I need to be somewhere where they treat us right and give us a little respect. Don't worry, I'll be fine. I don't wanna fight, but that's a sign of a real prison for ya..." (no he is not a violent person and doesn't get into altercations)... Ok, so I tell him, "Well, there's only 12 months left, have at it and enjoy!" (I'm a VERY sarcastic person, can ya tell...) Well, now he's complaining... He says, "I sure had it easy over there... they got me working in a laundry warehouse and this Summer it's gonna be f-ing hot... big open dorms here, no privacy, etc..." So, I told him he has a case of "the grass is greener! You like what you have, but you want something better... And in the end, it never works out!!!" It's not a huge deal, but I find it humorous... Seems like he should've had the hard camp at first and then went to Camp Cupcake for the remainder... Anyway, we had a good laugh at visitation about it!!!

So, I was wondering, do any of you ever feel like your loved ones caught them a case?!?!?

We're going in the opposite direction. Hubby is in a SuperMax now with riots, tower guards using lethal rounds and actually shooting inmates, inmate on inmate murders, constant lockdowns, etc.

So we're in the process of moving to a lower security prison and both of us are really looking forward to NOT having so many issues. There will still be fights, but the prison he's endorsed to move to is "Camp Cupcake" relative to the "War Zone" he's in now.

Well, given the options... I'm glad we haven't had to deal with anything like that!!! I see the prisons like that on t.v. and it used to really scare me, but not so much anymore... He's been at a good camp and the one he's at right now isn't THAT bad... just old and ran down, probably needs to be shut down! Oh well, he doesn't have that much more time and he's a big boy, he'll do ok!!

On the other note, congrats on a lower security prison!!!! You have to celebrate the little things!!!
