A poem I recieved in a letter fom my son today

A Prisoners Poem

You sit in a cage and wait out the day,
You stare at the walls and waste away,
An inmates an you'll never forget,
You've fallen from society into a pit.

When "recall" is shouted you sit on your bunk,
And crazy Jits all around pretend that thry're crunk,
Desprate for letters, books and canteen,
Why, you wonder are the C.O's so mean?

They force you to rush, eating your chow,
By the time you're half through It's get up now!
Time moves slow except when you're eating,
Drink while you are standing and you'll box a greeting.

You write to your people, try to stay keen,
But forces of darkness dart about unseen,
Depression is everywhere, you're down in a funk,
Your hopes and dreams all but sunk.

Freedom's the thing, you'll never have it;
You only pretend you're OK to loosen up a bit.
Nothing today, only one thing to say:
"What can I do but hope to God and pray?!

tears in my eyes as that is the life my son used to describe while in prison. I am so proud of your son for knowing that God is all he can count on and turn to while in there. sigh.

so important for them to get mail!
