Default Any Information on Northpoint Training Center Riot?

Does anyone have any info on the riot at northpoint???. everywhere I go to get info gives different "facts". Please please pass along anything that you have, i have been to the kentucky forum but there is not any new news. There were some supposedly minor injuries to some inmates. I would greatly appreciate any info that you may have.

CNN) -- Authorities regained control of a Kentucky prison early Saturday after inmates torched buildings, shattered windows and threw rocks at guards.

Inmates set fire to a Kentucky prison on Friday after the warden said he would ease restrictions on a lockdown.

Inmates at the medium-security Northpoint Training Center in Burgin started an uprising shortly after the warden announced he'd ease restrictions on a lockdown, Northpoint Public Information Officer Mendalyn Cochran told CNN.

16 hurt during riot at Northpoint prison

By Stephenie Steitzer

BURGIN, Ky. — Eight inmates and eight corrections officers suffered minor injuries during a Friday night riot at a state prison during which fires were set to six buildings, state officials said.
No inmates escaped, officials said, and no hostages were involved before was restored late Friday night.

Local firefighters contained the fires about 1 a.m. Saturday. But they will remain at the medium-security Northpoint Training Center in Boyle County for 24 hours as a precaution, according to a statement from Gov. Steve Beshear's office.

jancy,

thank you soo much for the replys. my son is ok and at ksr. i finally got a call from him. he stayed inside his dorm while it was on fire so that he wouldn't be shot or accussed of being involved in the riot. he was doing what they said when they came into the dorm and he got kicked in the forehead while lying on his stomach on the floor.

thanks everyone. you know even though there had been a riot in cal it never dawned on me that it could happen at ntc. and i thought that the medical problems were what was bad. i have found out sooo many things since this happened.

jshipsmom - yes he was kicked while on his stomach on the floor. i do not know if it was a guard or an outside officer.

they also spent many many hours in the outside court yard on their stomachs, hands ziptided behind their backs, no covers and NO bathroom breaks. the guys were going in their pants because they had no choice. sometime saturday morning they moved their hands in front - still ziptided - so that they could eat. my son said that they remained like that until they got to where they were going. and you could forget about a shower. now there are almost 500 inmates still there-they were allowed showers sunday but had to put on the same nasty clothes. remember that friday evening these guys went to the bathroom in these clothes. and still wearing them 48 hours later.

there is too much to post. these guys all lost everything that they had. not to mention that now they are being treated worse then they were.
