How does the ADC phones work?

My man is in Brickeys max, and i was wondering how are they able to call us? If i put money on the ADC website for him on the phone. Is that all i have to do? Then can he just call me? How long for how much? How do i know how much to put on there? Can he just talk until that moneys gone? What times are the able to call? Help please! Thank you!
