New Step Same Situation

My name is Dee I am from North Carolina and I first heard about this site doing searches on laws and inmate information, etc. My Boyfriend is currently at Bertie Correctional and this is the first time he ever has been in trouble and the first time I had to really deal with prison in this way. My uncle was in prison and was released 2003 and I can honeslty say a lot has changed since he has been in prison.

My Boyfriend has been in the system for two years as of October 2009 and out of that time has spent most of that in prison and only spending 3months of that time in county. In ways for him prison is a little better from county as he says it often. He has 5-7 more years to go so I can honestly say we're not even half way over this hill.

This has been a really big adjustment. Phone calls are so expensive so some months we don't get to talk and with him being 4+ hours away travel is difficult and I haven't seen him since they moved him in Jan. I write him often so that is some light to this dark situation. Most people that aren't in this situation often have negative things to say and generally a negative view of inmates. I just say how unfortunate they are to not want to be more open minded.

That's pretty much it. And I want say that I am happy to have found some way of not having to hold all of this in and have to hold it in alone.
