Thumbs down I am getting collect calls from a different prison.

So... my house phone just rang, caller ID was "out of area" -

I answer and I hear a FAMILIAR automated female voice say "this is a collect call from _______ at the dodge county correctional facility"...

A man's voice (not my baby of course, he's not even at this facility) says "Hi Honey".

I did not accept the call because I don't know who the heck this is!

And, just as I was typing this message, the same thing happened again. "Hi Honey". Ummm, whoever you are, I AM NOT YOUR HONEY!

what the heck?!

umm...and it just happened again for a 3rd time. The voice that says "Hi Honey" is sooo monotone, it sounds like a recording. If someone was trying to reach someone, wouldn't they say their NAME?????????

It's happened to me before, although this particular caller was from "Your Boy Toy" and like you it was not my man's facility, not even in the same state. Just ignore it

Ive had them call and pretend to be officers wanting me to dial a number to reach "my loved one"....prison or jail scam. Seems like when it happens once, they try again and again, then move on. Im not sure if this what is happening to you or not, but probably is.

its a iffy sort of wierd. Here in S.C all inmates record there name for calls. When you get the call and tells you that you have a collect call from (insert name) at (insert prison name) its not the inmate actually saying his name. its his recording.

Some inmates use lil sayings for the recording instead of just saying their name. When my son got transferred and lost his calls we had it worked to where I was approved on his cellies phone list. His cellie called to let me know what was going on and I got his recording.

Since it wasnt my son I wasnt going to accpet the call but being as Im nosey like that lol i took the call and it was his cellie letting me know my son was in the hole and transferring out.

You could take the call and if it was something stupid your not required to continue the call and can refuse further calls from that number. you usually have that option to block all future calls from that number.

Well the place is in the same state as me but I don't know anyone there.

My babe called shortly after and he said just to ignore the calls...

And - Jamiesfeatherwood, I think you're right about the "name" being a recording. The words "Hi Honey" were SOOO exact.
