i am in shock i talked to my husband and he told me that they are now letting guys parole to girlfriends, i think that this is a good sign that they are going to fix the overcrowding but then again if they can parole with out a plan then we are going to start seeing parolees in parks and things.
my question is has anyone heard of this too?

I haven't heard this specifically, but I know that I was allowed to do things as a fiancée that were normally reserved for an immediate family member/wife. I also know of one guy who is paroling out to his GFs apartment from work release.

In the federal system it is allowable for now unless it changes.

It started around this time last year. Approval of a home plan to a significant other is strictly up to the discretion of the receiving parole officer as "co-habitation" is still in WV Code as being against the law (as archaic as that seems) and a condition of parole is that parolees must not break any federal, state, or local laws.

not hating on people but me and my husband have been at this for a while and we had to rush and get married because it was not allowed for us to live together unmarried even through we had kids together darn doc

As far as I know, yes they can parole out to a gf or bf--as long as the home checks out and the po approves. You can parole out to a friend's house even. However, I don't believe that means paroling out without a home plan.

Paroling to a gf or bf is new - within the last year, however, no one can parole in WV without an approved home plan; even with the new accelerated parole plan coming into place.

Exactly right, Vicki. My only concern with paroling to bf's and gf's or friend--and please, no one take this as me downing the sincerity of your relationship--but on behalf of the parolee it is a bit risky. I mean, one fight or whatever and it could end up with "I'm calling your PO; you're out of here." Seen it happen. Not saying that doesn't happen with family members, cause it does--but in my opinion it's a bit riskier.

does anyone know when the accelorated parole thing goes in effect i posted it in my post help please i found the whole bill it said jan 2011 at the bottom is this when it starts please let me know what you think as it seems no one is being moved now its so crowded ugh wish they would move hubby to prison

January 2011 is the projected start date, but I will be surprised if the system is ready by then. Things roll slow with implementation within the DOC. The chronic overcrowding has been around for at least 12 years now and will continue to be unless a new prison is built or judges change their lock them up and throw away the key attitude and begin to look at alternative sentencing and our legislature takes a long hard look at WV's sentencing codes!
