Woohoo!!! I am not all alone anymore!!!! Is your someone new to Kaibab or has he been there? Have you ever been there whats it like? My bf says its not so great but Im hopin its not too bad, sorry Im bombarding you with ? but I have not encountered anyone with a loved one in winslow.....

Hello :-) My boyfriend is at Winslow in the Kaibab unit. He was moved there a couple of months ago from Florence. I've been there to visit him 3 times. I live in California so it's a drive for me. I like the little town, the prison is ok, it's clean and they actually have mirrors in the bathrooms in visit yay! The vending machine food is alright, over priced as usual. Everytime i've gone one of the drink machines has gotten jammed. The CO's are generally nice, some are pretty strict so be careful at visit, get a feel for it. I got a warning for leaning my head on his shoulder. My boyfriend doesn't have any major complaints that are particular to this prison. I've heard some people complain about it in comparing it to other prisons in Arizona ie: the food at Yuma was better, the CO's @ this place and that place are more chill, etc. Can't wait to go back, hopefully soon when I get my finances together.

Thanks for the info! Wow a warning for leaning your head on his shoulder? O great, this is definately gonna be a test of my patience lol. Can you at least give them a kiss when you get there? I would really like some kind of contact since its been like seven months since i got to touch him!

You're allowed to kiss and hug at the begining of visit and at the end. Depending on what CO is in the room you can sneak a few inbetween. It really depends on the CO. I get frustrated sometimes and sit accross from him so I won't be tempted haha. I get so scared they'll flip out on me and take away my visits for something so small (something so small that means so much to us). I also like going outside and walking around holding hands and talking. The sound of the rocks grinding under our feet has become a source of comfort for me. I enjoy the small things.

Winslow is my hometown..

I live in Denver now..and my man is at Lewis Prison in Buckeye. My man is going to be moved soon he jsut got reclassified down..so maybe they will move him to Winslow..LOL It would be cool if they did cuz I have tons of friends and in-laws there.

does anyone know what level yard kaibab is? would someone who is classified as a 2/3 be sent there? Any answers would be helpful. Thanks!

Hi Ana,

I havent really gotten any kind of info from anyone anything I know most of it i had to find out myself, not sure why this room is so lonely lol!

Anyway my bf hates it there and says that they are really strict, he would know considering he's been to prison b4 but he says that a lot of stuff has changed since he was there last. What I really hate though is their mail system though. Takes frikin forever ugh! Also I sent him a llike two weeks ago and he barely got the cd's this week and they still havent given him the books that were with it. If you have any questons just let me know I might be able to help!

Okey dokey Im back, I dont really have any new info unless your visitn someone who got a ticket, cuz my bf sure did. It realllllllyyyyy sucks my first visit is gonna be behind a darn glass just like county...Oh well at least I get to visit. Anyway he's on restriction so they took away his phone privilages and our visits are reduced to 2 hours which you have to schedule 72 hours in advance. The visits only take place on Tuesday's or Thursdays and the person told me they only do two on each day. So when I asked if I could schedule one for next tuesday seein as how today is wednesday and i wouldnt make the 72hour time frame, she let me know that the next available time wouldnt be until the 22 of June, today is the 9. Guess there are a lot more people at Winslow than I thought...lol. Anyway this was my ordeal today, obviously my story is "to be continued...."

If you think its lonely here, this is nothing I go visit in Winslow and the visitation room is deader than this chat room!! lol no one visits winslow at least Coranado they dont.

Hi, as far as visits go I’ve gone twice and the visitation staff is very friendly they let you be and enjoy your visit. As for the inside my fiancé says for being a 2 yard he thought it would be a little more laidback but it’s the same drama as a 3 yard. The staff there is always on everyone it’s easy to get a write up. The good side is there is more freedom and allot of jobs especially outdoors. ..Oh and I don’t know how Florence is but the guards in the front entrance to get in are ridiculously strict.

Hi everyone! I sure hope the Winslow room doesn't go silent again! My man just got transferred to the Kaibab North unit yesterday, came from Marana. He arrived yesterday afternoon and was already able to get through on the phone this morning at 7:12am! YAY! I talked to the CO's regarding our visits and everything smoothly transferred with him and all is clear so the kids & I will be making the 4.5 hr drive this weekend! So now ladies & gentlemen, please continue to voice on here and share with me any and all of your experiences and info on Winslow! I will continue to be active and share what I know as well!

I am from Winslow it is my hometown. If you have any questions on anything..I will try to help. I think if your there long enough to go out to eat you must stop at the Entre' Resturant. It is the best Chinese food ever! I live in Denver and nothing compares seriously! I have been gone for 5 years and I am sure many things have changed but I am sure I could still help ya if you need anything.

I was really happy when he was in FLORENCE-NORTH UNIT!! He was moved there May 2010 Not even a month there! He was only an hour away! He was @ [C.C.A.] Diamondback Correctional Facility in Watonga, Oklahoma. For 2 1/2 years until there contract expired with Arizona! We used to video visit almost every saturday for 30 minutes!! Now they moved him again! The last time I seen him was on the 12 of June. I miss him so much!

Talked to my baby this morning, as mentioned before he just got moved to Winslow Kaibab North unit on Monday. He didn't sound well even though he said he was fine... He wants me to send him copies of all of his police reports and info so he can show everyone the black & white of what went down when he was arrested. He's basically in the stage of having to prove himself to everyone. I just hate that. It frustrates me so badly that all of us on PTO are supportive, compassionate and helpful to eachother and that the guys in there are all aggressive-defensive towards eachother. Why can't everyone just get along????? I know it's an awful terrible place they have to be in and yes, I know there are some people who probably need to be in there... but I know that there's a bunch of them that are good men, hard working, loving and genuinely good human beings. I just wish they would play nice with eachother.

Wow your call sounded just like my first call when my fiance went it..he too needed to show his police reports ect. He kept writting and calling for me to get the reports sent in he was not himself everytime he asked for them I could tell by his voice it was important to get them as fast as possible. When I sent them prison wouldn't let him receive them, I had to hire an attorney to send in the paperwork through legal mail after that he got left alone.

Posted my first visit experience for Winslow Kaibab in the other thread but this is some updated news I heard from my man on the phone. He said the CO's are saying that around the middle of this month 500 guys from Oklahoma are supposed to be transferred back to AZ and that Winslow is supposed to be getting 115 new guys from there, all Paises (Paisas) I don't know how to spell that. Anyway, we all know how rumors are, even amongst the CO's, they don't know everything. Just thought I'd put the info out there for you ladies. Has anyone else heard anything?
