Briton faces jail or execution

Briton arrested in Thailand faces years in jail, or even a death sentence, for urging redshirt rioters to burn down a shopping centre.Jeff Savage, a 48-year-old married man, originally from Tonbridge in Kent, has been accused by Thailand's prime minister of being a long-time member of the anti-government redshirt movement and a key agitator in the riots which saw swaths of the capital burn last week.

Australian jailed over red-shirt protest


AN AUSTRALIAN arrested in Thailand for being part of the red-shirt protest movement, violently crushed by the Thai army last week, faces a potential two-year prison sentence.
But Perth man Conor David Purcell says authorities have nothing on which to convict him.
Thai media reported that Mr Purcell, arrested on Sunday, will be charged with inciting violence under the emergency decree laws, an offence that carries a maximum two-year sentence.
