Question Intro--Jakes Baby Ma From Mi

i just came across this site and i'm hoping to get some much needed help. I am thinking about bringing my 3 year old son to go see his dad for the first time since he has been locked up (2 years and 4 more to go) i have so many questions....
any idea how little ones handle the visitation process?
are you allowed to wear jeans bought with frays and rips in them?
is cotton an ok place for visitations?

if anyone could help me out with this that would be great
thanks,
Janelle

Default Welcome

This is a great site it has helped me with so many things.

I posted the What to wear in the other area-General.

My son's daughter has been going to see her dad since 2007. They get used to it. Some facilities have little to no toys or books ect.-Parnell was by far the worst for that. Cooper St. seems to be pretty good, I do not know about Cotton. It would be very good for your guy to see his child, and for his child to see him. You can take $15.00 per person in for the vending machines. The change machines are in the front before you go through security. Drinks are generally $1.25-$1.50 and snacks $1.00 sandwiches run $2.-$3.50

P.S. No holes-even in designer jeans.

kal0721 is right no rips, tears, holes, or anything. You will not be able to visit.

Make sure you read up on all the clothing you can wear and call the facility to feel them out a little. This always worked for me. Just wear regular clothes without all the fringes and tears and extra stuff. I used to wear all the jewelry and stuff then I got tired of taking it off during the pat down/detector process. He really would be happy to see his baby and its a great boost for him.

It's been almost two years since I've been to Cotton to visit so not sure if things have changed. It wasn't too bad of a place to visit. Not too many vending machines....only five if I remember correctly. They did have quite a bit of seating though.

Don't be surprised if son doesn't have to much interaction with dad !! Took mine(2 years old) yesterday to see his. He will say dada on phone and realizes who he is when i show him a picture but he was super shy yesterday. Wanted to cuddle with mom when he fell even when dad tried to help him. I am sure with time he will get use to him again. Sure it might have had to do with the different place and all the people.
