I am currently getting collect calls. According to etcampaign site these are the rates:

However, my caller ID says they are coming from Accurate Comm (local jail, not prison). So I don't know if this is accurate.

On Monday our phone service moved to "Teleblend" (all the calls you wish to make and 25 special features using your high speed internet connection for $15/month, $30 set up, and you have to buy a "gizmo"). We actually signed up for the account before the incarceration. Teleblend Web Site says their system does not work for collect calls, but it did last night. I spoke to a customer service rep today and was advised, that sometimes it does work, but they don't guarantee it.

They also allow you to get a "vanity number" for $4.99/month. So I've asked for a Wyoming number. If it does not work they say I can cancel it at any time and there is no set up or disconnect fee for the number. So it is worth a try to save at least $7 per 15 minute phone call. $3-$4 a call I can afford. Calls for $10-$13/each would have to be much more limited.
