Default Motivation for school...how do you do it?

Hey all..

I've been in Paralegal school since May... its getting really boring.. since I have almost all computer classes and 1 legal class here and there..

How do you guys deal w/ the motivation issue to stay in school and get thru the BORING ASS classes??...

I'm going thru personal things too, and make it hard to stay focus...

Since I'm going at night.. i have computer classes from 8-10 pm .. its the basic level computer classes, and then they have you work your way up.... then towards the middle of ur program its all Legal classes... I know its to prepare you for the business side of ur career but holy shit dude.. 3 computer classes and 1 legal right now ..

I think it just depends on if you heart is really set on that degree, i know that you have an inner fashion diva () in you from reading your other posts. when going to school an important part is taking something that you would be happy doing no matter how bad of a day your having. Yes there are always some classes you may not like to get to the point you want to be.

Somehow I could always tell myself that the boring classes weren't boring (there weren't many that I found very boring). I found my studies to be very interesting most of the time. What de-motivated me was the pressure of deadlines, turning in projects and reading for tests.... that was the hard part for me. But because I enjoyed most of the classes, I had an advantage because I listened hard to what was being said in class and took part in discussions.

But I'm a very very BAD *postponer* so staying up all night with coffee was a vice I could never get rid of during this time :P

Everyone is afraid of failure and most people DO fail at some point, that's nothing to be upset about - I failed one class in the beginning as did most of the people I was in school with, some more than others. But I just learned the whole thing muuuuch better the next time around and got an A

You should go to school if that's what you want to do - the only thing that us *older* ones (I'm 37) have to be careful about is not killing ourselves with lack of sleep because our brains aren't as receptive as they used to be hehe

Let me tell you Beth being in an Engineering program you learn real quick that some classes and some teachers just aren't for you, and you have to drop them to take them a second time. It does get to me at times, but you know I keep up because I want to do better for my family. Personally I think you will do great no matter what you choose to do!

Personal accomplishment should be the ultimate goal. Took me ten years to earn my Bachelors degree (just graduated) and the last 2 years have been the most challenging through my husbands drug, court, and incarceration follies.
YOU must motivate yourself because you are in charge of yourself.
You can do it.
Repeat after me "I am motivated, I am motivated"
Say it in the morning and at night.
Do not say you can't or its boring. Find the Ah Ha points in the class and
share that with people in your life.

is this something that you really want to do? i just finish school, yesterday actually and i thought it was gonna be really tough considering the fact that they i took the summer semester but it was actually easy breeze because i enjoyed my classes. i was interested in everything because i was taking something that i am really in tune with. if not look at it this way, with our loved one being incarcerated this is a good way of keeping yourself occupy all the while reaching for better. you get to meet new people and interact with people that have nothing to do with the shu, commissary, cells, etc lol. you get to be whoever you want to be because no one knows about your situation !!!

my motivation, i don't want to be like my mother or sister. neither of them even finished high school, and struggle to survive each month, finding new ways to barely pay bills, that's not what i want. i want to be comfortable and happy.

next week starts my final year of my undergraduate career, and come may of 2011 ill have a bachelors, and thats just the beginning.

you have to want it for you, and if you really do, then you'll get past the boring stuff, and look towards the light at the end of the tunnel!
