Question Question

Is there anywhere on this website, or anywhere in the NH Prison System, a list of what is and what isn't acceptable to do? For instance my son's girlfriend accumulated a lot of letters before getting my sons ID number so she could send them. She put them all in one envelope and mailed them. She got them back with a note stating you could only have 8 pages per envelope at one time. Thus she split them up 5 and 4 and resent them. It would be nice to know if you can purchase items like the cassettes, we've been discussing, from a business and have them sent to the inmate, without having to check with the prison first to see if you could do this. I once sent a picture but got it back because there is rule on that too and the one I sent was too big. Right now we learn through "hit and miss" and many times are spending money needlessly. If the families knew what they could and couldn't do from the start, money and time would be cut down on for the mailroom, staff and the families. And it would save on a lot of anger that is generated just because you don't know.

I do know that cassettes/magazines and books can only be sent directly from an approved vendor to the prison. The approved vendor I do know about and have had them send books was Barnes Noble. I have also found out that you can not send anything that is available through the Canteen. Dont know if this helps.
