Just remember violent or non violent, if "witnesses" lie, it ruins lives!

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have my full respect for standind up and actually saying something!

I agree with you 100% Many partners say they stand by their loved one but in reality when it would or does come down to it.... They do not stay true to their "Ride or Die" Attitude possibly out of embaressment or just the fact which saddly tends to be quiet common these days...is the ignorance towards loyalty, honesty, and the desire to stay treu to yourself at all times!!!!

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...11843426&ps=rs

This story (which can be read or heard on NPR at the link) illustrates the folly of cutting funding for correctional and rehabilitation programs as the prison population explodes with "3 Strikes" laws. The Folsom Prison of 1968, when Johnny Cash made that now famous visit was a place where the men worked and learned in GED, educational and vocational training classes all day. Folsom had the lowest recidivism rate in the country. And in the Braille program at Folsom inmates are learning to translate books for the blind. In 20 years, not a single inmate who has been part of the program has ever returned to prison. This year, the program has been cut back to 19 inmates.

My guy, who is currently serving a year in a Connecticut State Prison sends letters home in envelopes bearing the warning that "This correspondence originates from a Connecticut Correctional Facility" underneath which he writes this question: "What 'correction'? Where is there any correction being done in here?"

The CT prison system seems to have taken it's cue from the current disastrous CA prison system, with few classes, long waiting lists for those classes, budget cuts, high recidivism rates and very little rehabilitation going on. The guys are pretty much left to stew in their own juices for the duration of their bid, with little to do but watch TV and work out. Recently the prison he is in has started shrinking the food rations.

With the majority of the guys getting no education or training and locked in a cell 23 hours of every day I wonder how this is readying them for life on the outside?

I think Ca should also take in considerations, inmates that were tried as adults when they were still just kids. Even if it is for a violent crime. If they have proven to be non-violent inside that should count for something. Not all non-violent offenders should be let out.

This article was definitely very helpful to me...My husband was asking me if those elgible for half time are in fact gonna end up serving 35% of their time...Does anyone know? The article kind of makes it seem like they have not figured out exactly how much time will be cut

Default going home early...

my lady has a couple of months to go before being release...she's having a hell of a time with her anxiety, depression, anger issues. does anyone know the process of getting someone release early? do we have to sit here on the outside and just wait. who do i write to? who will seriously listen. her crime was non-violent (theft). it should be a no-brainer for her to be release now. the overcrowding at vspw is too much and sick!!! the prison system is sick!!!
does writing to the warden help? thx and peace to all!
