welcome pto newbies!
again much congrats to nypurple's new life term, lol - im soooo excited for you both.

my daughters dad is getting out in 12 weeks after serving 12 straight years. we've had our ups and downs throughout his term, but we're cool, sadly our daughter hasnt seen him in a few years becasue he's been in the shu and he took me off his visiting list once he found out i was committed to lifer. ex thought his family would be quick to take his daughter to a visit, which never happened, im sure now he regrets taking me off the list (but I wont throw it in his face).

for those of you who do not know, i met my lifer while i was in jail with my ex as my co-defendant - oh nooo, no i was in on a violation, but originally all over and becasue of the ex (i've always said, everything happens for a reason).

hubby and i are going well, thanks be to God.

I really can say I love all of him. Now if I could just get over the physical longing...

WOW... NYPurple, I just can't stop thinking about you guys. So amazing and scary at the same time. Know you are in my prayers..... Oh, so, the reason I'm writing is that my babe has a friend who's been in since he was 16 just like him. They knew each other from juvenile hall. They've been back together for some time and the friend just got approved for parole. This was his second parole hearing. Got denied 3 years ago, but I guess the governor has until tomorrow, Thursday, to actively deny him. So exciting. We are here in California, so I guess his parole came at a good time seeing that it's a transition period for the governors. My babe is struggling with being happy for him right now. Mixed emotions, you know, but I'm so happy for him. I actually met his parents this last weekend. They're good people and he's a good guy who made a mistake when he was a kid actually defending himself. He's never been in trouble since. So I say good for him. He deserves a new start.

Just wanted to share a lifer's story of going home.
What awesome news!
My Husband and I have known a couple of friends that were granted parole and released.

And it is an awesome feeling to know that there is a chance for them...
My husband has been denied 3x's and to be honest with you Ladies!..when I heard the first time that one of his friends were approved it got to me I just didn't quite understand why not mine!! But over time, now I see this a Blessing!..Every time I hear that another one of our lifers are being paroled it just brings joy to my heart!..Because this only assures me that there is HOPE for my husband Hope for all of us! That our loved ones will be coming home....

Am I scared??? HELL YES!!!!! We are two different people in our letters, phone calls......Damn when I pick him up next month it will have been 21 months since we've seen each other. I'll be the one at the end of the drive jumping up and down, waving my arms like an idiot just in case he does not recognize me.

We will only have a few days, my time off from work and him off to a halfway house by curfew every night. But he will be closer, about 3 hours not almost 6.

I suppose it would be appropriate to tell all of you thanks, but I'm not because I have this sneaking suspicion that this Life is just beginning and I will need you more than I have relied on all of you for the past 3 years.

Call me crazy but I have taken a peek or two at the Coming Home forum and truthfully I don't fit there either......mmmm something about the honesty here that I find much more comforting.

Congrats!...
Always know that you have already been through the worse, Yes this is just the beginning of a New Beginning I am new a babie to this this Thread but from seeing all the comfort that each and everyone of you bring to one another, I am so glad to be a part of this Thread...I think I can speak for all of us!..

We are here for you

It is that same way here in Iowa. Being that visitors help inmate morale so much I can't see reasons for such a silly rule and it applies even if the two inmates are in completely different prisons in completely different towns. The only reason I can see for this is that some women of loose morals might try to go from pen-pal to pen-pal causing jealousy and rivalry fights/drama. There are females out there that would stoop so low as to write a man's closest friend!

Wow that would be very hard for example if a mother had two children incarcerated how would you choose which one you would visit???
