Default WV takes steps to reduce prison population

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- An average of three new inmates a day entering the state's correctional system has left West Virginia with a stark choice: build new prisons or change the way it thinks about crime and punishment.

I agree with you 100% I was in ERJ for 6 months, and now my son is there.

I totally agree with the two post. Mingo county in my opinion is one of the worst to lock people up over little to nothing. I think it is so they can get re-elected. It's not about justice anymore.

Basically, what I'm seeing about this program is that is requires an application to be considered for accelerated parole and some kind of rehabilitation program has to be completed to get it???

So what it looks like to me is just more BS from the DOC to look like they are doing something pro-active!

What's the rehabilitation program? RSAT?? (joke) if thats the case what about all the non-violents sitting in regionals because there is NO ROOM at the prison, they are left out?

Why can't this program be spelled out in normal language? Just say what exactly the criteria is?
