Default Christmas-advent calender

Hi all,
I am doing an Advent calender for my friend on Death Row in TX ...I put a little something in 25 envelopes to open each day till christmas... now I wonder if the mailroom will proberly open the sealed envelopes to see whats inside....what do you think? shall I leave them ratehr open?
as I know my friend he would definitely sneak inside each envelope before the day said :-)
anyway, thanks for your advice....

Last year the mailroom in TX handled the Christmas mail good I guess. I sent my pal a card with a little Christmas stocking glued in it. I knew they would not accept it but I tried. Wrote a little note to the officers asking, If my friend isn't allowed to keep the sock could you please take it out and give him the card? And have a merry X-mas!

Normally they would send the entire letter back, as they did before. (tried it before)
But now they took the sock out and gave my friend the card, undamaged. I guess they do have a little more respect during the holidays.

I would still close them, or else things might get lost on the way to the US

The mail room will open them--they have to search for contaband. It sounds like a nice idea though.

I know it's too late to answer but perhaps, it can help for other things. I have made my calendar only with paper. I hope you will understand because I don't know how to explain that. I cut a little part to do a notch where I insert the opposite side of the page. Like that you can't see the inside, it is easy to open and no need to use an envelope. I do cards like that too when I don't want my friend to see the inside. But... as you, not sure that he's waiting the good day to open...
I can try to show you if you are interested.
