I want to put together a little recipe e-book to give to friends inside, so I need a little help from those who know how to put together good treats and meals using commissary and whatever one can get from the kitchen. Maybe some to help with resolutions to lose a little weight, but any recipes you want to share will be welcome. Might cheer up our friends and family inside. Thanks!

My husbands version of commissary spanish rice:
Take 1 pouch of white or wild rice and place in your bowl. Add 1 can V8 juice and a half can of water to the bowl. Season with garlic, onion flakes, pepper, salt, peppers or whatever else is available on commissary. Let sit for a half hour and flake with fork or spoon and let sit for another half hour. Ready to warm for a minute or two in the microwave.

Here's another:
This is enough for 3 or 4 people as a dip for taco chips unless they are really hungry.



In you bowl mix one pouch refried beans with onion, garlic, pepper, dry nacho cheese mix and mexican spice mix if you have it. Stir dry ingredients together and add enough hot water to a soupy consistency. If you want to add some meat (sausage, pork, chicken etc) cut up into small pieces and add to bean mixture. Stir in and adjust with more water if needed. To finish off you can top with peppers and or more cheese (nacho, velveta, mozzarella, etc) and heat in the microwave until cheese is melted. If not using cheese heat for one minute, mix and heat again for about 30 seconds.
