Default Question about Clothing Inside~Will be serving time.

Hello,
I am about to start a 3 year sentence in Georgia. I feel as prepared as I can be for most everything, except for the matter of clothing.

When being taken to into a County Jail and awaiting transfer to Jackson, can you keep certain items that you came in with? I've heard that white socks, underwear, shirts, etc... are ok.

In Jackson & beyond, what can an inmate do to stay warm?

Thank you very much. This forum is truly a God-send and all of you who maintain it are helping us so much.

Athens Guy-
Keep your head and spirits up. Let your loved ones know about this site should they require answers or support while you are away.
There is adequate heating in the facilities. You also have pants, socks, thermals, thin sheets, state-issued jackets and boots and blanket.

Once you get to an actual camp (after you leave diagnostics), around the time of the winter months, send your family members a package request for thermals. You are issued a state jacket; but, it's not all that warm in the morning while standing in chow line before the sun even comes up. I found that a hat really helped keep me warm as well...

My son was able to take white socks, crew neck t's but very little of anything else. All the books I purchased for him while county stayed at county. My son sent me a package request and I was able to purchase him a with sweatshirt and pajamas.
