Need to find a better cordless phone, trouble hearing bf on calls

Odd topic, but the phone I have is a good 5 years old and was by no means top of the line. I've had trouble hearing my bf on calls from every place he's been and I miss half the convo. Can anyone recommend a cordless phone they are using that has good volume? I'd like to stick with a phone with 2 handsets, as he's in a different timezone now and can call after 10 my time so one of these days, I may be in bed when he calls.

Either Panasonic or Uniden, they come with dual handsets. Walmart carries them.

I had purchased a Uniden cordless but had to return it. He said he could barely hear me on it. I'm going to get a Panasonic.
