My hunny was at Holmes for a year. He moved from Holmes to Lawtey almost exactly a year ago. The word at Holmes is CONSERVATIVE. You need to dress it and act it. I do not know what your man is in for, but, there are alot of sex offenders at that facility. Of course not all are, but a large group are. For this reason, if you have children, keep them close to you. I have never had a prob with any inmate at any visit, but, the guards will demand you keep them at your side at all times. The SOs are not permitted near children. Also for this reason they are quite a bit more strict about your appearance. Loose clothing, NOTHING form fitting! If you wear tight jeans be sure to have shirt long ennough to coner your rear. NO white clothing especially tops. Your top needs to be as loose around your bust as possible. I used to have a problem all the time because I wore a padded cup bra, and they were upset that the outline of the cup of the bra could be seen through my shirt. It was a loose fitting dress t-shirt. Your bottoms need to be long. To be safe I would go with pants or capris. When you are seated your bottoms should cover your knees. Absolutely NO shorts! Your top must also show ZERO cleavage! when you get to the facility there is a little covered area out by the parking lot. You need to go there first. On your first visit to Holmes there will be 2 forms to fill out. All subsequesnt visits will only be one. Make sure u haveur picture id. You will need to know your car tag # . Slip on shoes will make your pat down alot easier and quicker. Remember that if you do NOT meet thier regulations they WILL send u back out the gate til u can fix whatever the problem is. Some facilities have white lab coat looking covers if your attire is not acceptable. Holmes DOES NOT. You will lose valuable, precious time with your man if they have an issue with anything about you. So it is to your benefit (and his) to do your best to conform to all rules from the get go. Another word about tops, they MUST have sleeves or cover your whole collarbone. No tank tops!!!! Once in the visit be sure to adhere to the "kiss and embrace only at beginning and end of visit and only hand holding during visit" rule. They ARE watching at ALL times.also you cannot sit on the same side of the table and be turned facing each other. If u sit side by side keep all hands visible on the table and only turn your head and upper body toward each other. No touching other than hand holding. No rubbing his back ,no arm around the back of his chair or his arm around yours. Like I said to be safe all hands on table and visible. They WILL terminate your visit if you have more than one problem during the visit depending on the offense. Also remember if you make waves when u come to visit he may suffer reprocussions when you leave (unofficially of course). I must say Holmes was NOT a pleasant facility to visit, but, for your man you do what you gotta do. Just strictly follow the rules (especially the ones I have listed, cause I learned them the hard way) and you will have as good of a visit as it possible at good old Holmes CI. Good Luck!!

Default Anyone have someone at Holmes CI?

i was just wondering if anyone had a loved one at Holmes. I'm coming from out of state for a visit for the Veteran's day weekend and thought maybe it would be nice to "know"someone before i get there. i'm feelin kinda lonely right now, i havent heard anything good about the facility, my husband got his first STUPID cc and he's only been there 5 days. i guess i'm just worried.

This subforum is for members w/ loved ones at the Work Camps, Forestry Camps and Road Prisons, not the main prison units. Try posting in the main Region I forum. I know we have a few members with loved ones at Holmes.

Default Husband in Holmes Work Camp

My Husband of 4 yrs is in Holmes Work Camp and I get worried sometimes. I see and hear about guys in there having other girls visit them. This worries me cause I have been loyal to him for 2 yrs ( the whole time he has been down). And I dont want to be one of those wives sitting there beside her man and the other people in visitation looking at her and thinking that poor girl. I am just wondering if anyone else has a man or loved one in there, to maybe be my eyes cause I cant be there for every viso.

So let me get this straight - you can sit side-by-side at the work camp, but they make everyone sit across from each other at the main unit??? My bf can't get out of there quick enough.

Default Newbie...Please Help!

Hi Everyone! I'm a complete virgin at this whole prison and being incarcerated thing. I'm loosing my mind completely and feel like I'm about to die with my hunny! I just have a few questions that hopefully someone will be nice enough to answer.

My boyfriend has been at Holmes CI (well he just moved to the work camp) for the last month. This is his first time going to prison. How long does getting approved for visitation take?

Do they really give them ALL their mail? He's been saying he's not receiving my letters. What can I do about this?

Any advice or feedback will be so helpful. Thanks yall!

Default Phones at Holmes Work Camp

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with the phones at Holmes Work Camp? I haven't gotten a call since Wednesday night and when I called the facility yesterday they said they were having phone issues and the phone guy was there. Well that was yesterday morning and still no phones. Just wondering if anyone who has gone to visit this weekend knows anything.

Thanks!

I hate to be the one to tell you, but you dont loose your mind, it just starts going around and around in circles

Are you on the approved visitation list for for bf? If not, there is a post around here somewhere that will let you download a copy, fill it out and send as per instructions on the form. Dont try to go visit without the approval of the prison, you will not be let in.

Im at a lose over why he is not getting his mail, maybe the mail room does not know he was transferred over the the work camp. Are you saying he has not received mail for over a month? If so, look around here, prob in "what you need to know" and find the phone number to Holmes. One is on going busy, but the other one will get you through.

Also note....yesterday 25 inmates were transferred, a lot from work camp. So if hes is one of those guys, it will be awhile before you hear from him.

Welcome to PTO, you will like it here, we become friends and offer comfort to each other as well as good updated information on Fl Prisons.

Good Morning! Thank you so much for responding. I was afraid that no one would. lol! I did finally get approved for his visitation list and got the chance to see him this weekend, and it was his birthday Saturday, so I was thrilled!

I do not know what the issue is with his mail, but I did talk to his classification officer so hopefully he gets his months supply of mail soon. Im still trying to figure out the different tools on this site, but I do appreciate you responding. Have a great day!

My man is at Holmes WC too. I live near Pensacola. He says the heat is miserable there, so we hope the summer passes quickly. Of course, counting down the days until EOS too.
