Default Information on getting married at Algoa Correctional Center in Missouri

Marriage Information for Fiancée
Algoa Correctional Center
Jefferson City, MO
Bruce Guile, Chaplain
  • Missouri Department of Correction chaplains do not perform marriage ceremonies.
  • The part on the marriage application labeled: “Minister’s Information” Please list the ministers name and address only. The minister must provide a photocopy of credentials (i.e. ordination papers), and drivers license directly to the chaplain. Ministers can not send their social security number and credentials through an offender. It is best to have the rest of the wedding application completed by the offender and fiancée, then let the minister complete his or her part and return it to the chaplain’s office. Wedding applications should be mailed to:

Bruce Guile, chaplain
Algoa Correctional Center
8501 No More Victims Road
Jefferson City, MO 65101-4567
  • If a minister has questions, the chaplain can be reached at 573-751-3911 ext. 611
  • The Fiancée must make application for the marriage license at the Cole County Courthouse, Recorder of Deeds office. This must be done at prior to the deadlines listed below. The Cole County Recorder comes to ACC only once during the month of March and once during the month of August to allow offenders to sing the license application.
  • Your wedding ceremony will be performed in the ACC visiting room. All marriages are scheduled for either the second Friday in April or the second Friday in September. Weddings may be postponed for security reasons. ACC staff will monitor the ceremony.
  • All guests must follow the visiting room dress code, and policy
  • Six (6) guests may be allowed to attend the marriage ceremony. One (1) of the six (6) guest may be another offender from ACC. Outside guests must be on the approved visiting list of the offender getting married. After ACC administration has approved a marriage application no other changes/additions will be made. NO Exceptions.
  • No cameras, video cameras, or motion picture cameras are permitted in the visiting room. If an offender has picture tickets (purchased prior to the wedding date), the ACC offender photographer from the IAC office will take wedding pictures.
  • There must be two (2) person present to witness the marriage by signing the marriage license.
  • No food or flowers will be permitted to enter the visiting room. All items and persons entering the visiting room are subject to search.
  • The bride and groom may exchange rings during the ceremony, however, the groom’s ring cannot contain any type of stone and should not cost in excess of $99.00. If a ring exchange is planned, the inmate is to give a description of the ring on the Marriage Application in the section titled: “Items Being Brought in for the Ceremony.” If there is to be a ring exchange the bride should bring the rings on the date of the ceremony.
  • Other questions concerning the marriage should be directed to the chaplain through the offender that you plan to marry. Brides should not call the chaplain for information. It is up to the offender to inform the wedding party of progress and changes.

As promised here is the information I got from my fiancée, I hope this helps. I am also going to once again post the name and address given to me for the Reverend who usually performs the services.

Reverend Darlene Imler
P.O. Box 6911
Jefferson City, MO 65102

Wedding Service Fee is $55.00

You are only allowed to write to her. I would suggest when you send the application to first make a copy for yourself incase it gets lost in the shuffle, so you do not have to go through the whole process of getting a new application to send to her. It happens and you could miss a deadline if it does. Just a suggestion

If you get married at SCCC, I know a minister that will do the ceremony for free of charge, she does ask for a donation since she goes to South Africa once a year to feed hungry children. Well, if u want the info PM me.

Hi, i believe they do them in Sept but could be the end of August. My husband & i got married a couple years ago in SECC & it was Sept. All you need to do is call Algoa & ask, they should know. Ask for the chaplain or have your man talk to the case worker. Either way he is gonna have to get the wedding packet to get the ball rolling. Good luck.
