Default Quinn wants to close Logan and other facilities

Quinn is such an ass!! Once again he's playing politics and using inmates and prison staff and COs as is pawns.

He wants to close Logan and some other corrections-related facilities because the Illinois legislature didn't cough up enough money for the budget. If he didn't like the budget he shouldn't have signed off on it.

Here's the facility list:

Logan Correctional Center, Lincoln: 1,970 male prisoners. About 320 employees.
Illinois Youth Center, Murphysboro: Houses about 75 juveniles. 110 employees.
Chester Mental Health Center, Randolph County: About 260 residents. About 480 workers.
Mabley Developmental Center, Dixon: 80 residents. About 140 workers.
Tinley Park Mental Health Center, Tinley Park: About 60 residents. 180 employees.
Singer Mental Health Center, Rockford: About 70 residents. About 150 workers.

I think Quinn needs the legislature's approval to close any facility, but it still stinks that he's threatening to do it and he might get away with it. There's a massive amount of waste in the Illinois government, why is he creating more misery for IDOC ? What happened to all of the money that was generated by raising our state income tax 50% ? The prisons are already overcrowded. And the people who work at these facilities will be out of jobs, some living in towns with few other options for them. Why doesn't Quinn just reinstate MGT ? That would save tens of millions of dollars per year.

Even if your loved one isn't at Logan, I highly recommend that you contact your Illinois state Senator and Representative and complain about this. Quinn is taking advantage of the fact that few people have any empathy for inmates or even for the people who work in the prisons.
